Heroes webisodes teased

Fans of NBC's Heroes have been foaming at the mouth for more of the superpowered show, and they've been waiting a while--the last episode of the strike-shortened second season aired in early December. A new episode of the show isn't expected until the latter half of September, meaning Heroes fans have to look elsewhere to get their fix.

Late last month, TV.com managed to get a few questions in with Heroes creator Tim Kring about the future of the franchise, and one of the crucial topics touched upon was online content. Kring said three webisodes were in the works which would introduce a new character in the Heroes universe, and they would hit in July.

Looks like the man was telling the truth.

NBC.com has updated its Heroes site with information on the webisodes, and the first is set to drop next Monday, with subsequent episodes each of the next two Mondays. The trilogy, titled Going Postal, focuses on a mailman (ahh, now it makes sense) named Echo De Mille whose superpower allows him to emit unusually powerful sounds. Possibly even powerful enough to kill a man.

NBC has also released a trailer for the online series, and the minute-plus clip shows Echo being pursued by nefarious types while trying to figure out how to deal with his newfound ability. Also making a cameo in the trailer is a familiar face from the series (watch it to find out who!).

The third season of Heroes is currently scheduled to air on September 22. The show is also expected to have a huge presence at this year's Comic-Con, with the final episode of Going Postal being screened at the Heroes panel on July 26.
