Hey Look! It's Seven Seconds of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! (VIDEO)

I've got great news for fans of Joss Whedon, the Marvel universe, and really short promo videos! Here's a really short promo video for Joss Whedon's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I think we can all agree that was the best seven seconds of our lives. A promo for the new ABC series is also supposed to air during tonight's Once Upon a Time finale, but it's not clear if it will be the same one. Expect a longer look at Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Tuesday, when ABC officially announces its fall schedule and releases video clips of all 12 of its new shows.

I'm really excited about this series. I think they can do a great job. The only thing that maybe worry me a little bit is the network, ABC and Fox do not forgive and they have cancelled great series due to the ratings. However, Marvel comes with a great background of blockbuster and great adaptations of superheroes. IMO the pilot must have spectacular ratings. Under the Dome did it so, I think this series should do better. The only thing that is not in it's favor is that the people (including me) are expecting great things and we are more exigent. Smallville in its years did well, Arrow is pretty good too so I have high hopes

Am i the only one who thinks Colbie Smulders will appear in Season 2 / Late in Season 1, as soon as she's done with How I Met Your Mother?! Falls perfectly for her, doesn't it?

I guess , Whedon is so hopeless to enter TV industry again after a lot of failures in many Networks So now he is going to make a spin-off tv show out of his blockbuster movie in hope to get IN . I just hoped for something fresh , new and classic to get out of his brain, not something will attract a lot of people because of cool effects - and ya it is not gonna be smart , if the root "Avengers" was not clever , I don't think it is gonna be different !

Not even last night's trailer was long enough. :)

I'm not too worried because you know all the old school Joss fans will turn in. At the end of the day, Joss is getting the respect now that he should have had from everyone a long time ago. They're gonna give the show time. And by keeping the cast costs down, it helps on the budget side of things.

I am shocked to see people complaining about the so-called "nobodies" that have been cast. As several people have pointed out, Joss isn't going to cast a person based on their name. He is going to cast them based on their fit for the role. And so many of the people that have gotten a big break on one of his shows have gone on to be in a lot of other, and many times successful, projects. So I think it's safe to say he has a good eye for talent.

This is going to go one of two ways:

1) it'll flop due to it just not being able to live up to the avengers
2) it'll be absolutely amazing and will be raved about

there's one thing I can say for sure. The premier viewer numbers are going to be HUGE.

okay i'm confused. one of the first things i read about this series was it had nothing to do with the movie, but this preview leads us to believe it's taking place in the same universe as the Avengers. so which is it?

normally this kind of thing would make me not want to watch the show, but let's be honest..i miss Agent Coulson so i'm so in...lol

It will focus on the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization that was in the Avengers and most of the other Marvel movies. So it is in the same universe, but you won't just expect to always see Captain America, etc.

Agreed. Sure, ABC is no "Fox"...

But ABC has also has a history of giving quirky shows a chance. And then pulling the plug after the first season or two. Some really interesting shows got slammed by them.

Sure, everyone going to say "at least it's not FOX" due to the way they abused Firefly and Futurama. But ABC isn't exactly a polite channel either.

this time it would be little bit difrent.
Joss Whedon is his name:)
He would not begin on this if he tought abc would get him off air easy.

and if they do well abc you got a horse load of Whedon fans here so you will think twice this time:)
all the buffy angel firefly fans ,im one of them, and movie fans now, will i geuss be wachting this.

so happy that Joss Whedon is back on the tv again.
so tv is getting its quality back.

soo hope they will let whedon do what ever he wants!then this is gonne guaranty be a smasch hit.

hope this show will draw a line between once up on a time, revange,v, special effects decor's
so it will look amazing 2.

but with whedon i sure it will be (more)than okey

Looking forward to seeing Iain De Caestecker as a young S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent . He's probably a nobody to almost everyone, but I really enjoyed his previous series "The Fades", (even if it only lasted the one season). I definitely recommend it.

so it has Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen and then a bunch of nobodies. including one who they apparently hired for her cleavage. i'm not excited? while I enjoyed the avengers a great deal I'm more a fan of marvel than whedon. I did after all think chuck was at times the most incredibly stupid show on television. scratch that, often times thought chuck was the most incredibly stupid show on television.

honestly based on the banner and the 7 seconds it looks more like something that belongs on the CW than in the marvel universe. gonna vote for a first-round cancellation if it is as it appears. it sucks to be disappointed already.

Joss isn't really known for hiring known people. Most of his shows (Angel, Buffy, Dollhouse, Firefly), all basically starred "nobodies". The one exception I might make was that Tahmoh Penikett (of BSG fame) was in Dollhouse. Basically everyone else in his shows was unknown (or was a previous Whedon actor).

Now look at people like Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Adam Baldwin, David Boreanaz, Sarah Michelle Gellar, or Alyson Hannigan. All fairly big name actors/actresses, all made their names on his shows.

Just because they are "nobodies" doesn't mean a damn thing, imo.

I have to agree with you. The casting leaves a lot to be desired. Clark Gregg isn't a lead actor and his character could be annoying at times in the Iron Man movies. If Cobie Smulders was attached to this I'd be a lot more interested in it.

And what is wrong with "nobodies"? Lost or Game of Thrones had/have plenty. Not many people did mind.

Let them prove themselves first. It's not a Hollywood movie that it must have a star-studded cast, even if it's riding on the fame of one.

Wasn't Coulson killed in Avengers? Or does the show happens a before the events of the movie?

It's hinted that he lied about Coulson's death to get the Avengers to band together. Coulson himself said it with his struggling breaths: this Avengers thing wasn't going to work unless they had something to rally them together to Avenge against. Suggesting that Nick should use his death to convince them.

He "died" offscreen with Fury saying it's too late, the medics pronounced him dead. Then Maria Hill called him out on manipulating them, because Coulson's cards were in his locker and not his bloody pocket. Leading many to believe the entire thing was a lie and that he pulled through.

Not necessarily. It wouldn't be a far-fetched assumption to state that the vast majority of the people who are interested in this show has seen The Avengers. Which in turn allows the PR people to wave the "oh look, that agent whom you saw dying is alive here - check it out!" type of flag.

All in all, I wouldn't read too much into the hashtag. If the series takes place in the past, then of course "Coulson Lives". Or perhaps this Coulson is just a byproduct of Marvel's (in-)famous multiverse... as I'm not sure whether they've patented resurrection just yet.

I know, they should totally bring in Hasselhoff for the role! *hides*

On a more serious note, I think it would be somewhat awkward to have a different actor substituting for Fury when the actor for Coulson stays the same. They can run the "the orders came from upstairs" formula pretty efficiently without showing "the upstairs" on any regular basis.
But since Whedon is such great pals with the cast of Avengers (at least officially), I'd hope for some occasional guest starring on terms that wouldn't ruin the show's budget.

Using the same actors for a TV series as the theatrical movie is rare, at least when the movie isn't a continuation of the TV show such as Serenity and the Star Trek Movies. It happened with Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica, but in those cases the TV pilots were deliberately released as movies. But about the only character that I can think of was Walter O'Riley from M*A*S*H.

Nope. "Poor" Joss Whedon is quite a huge and wanted name in the industry now, after the outstanding commercial success of his movie. I don't think that any network would dare to mistreat his creation now.

Unless you meant in terms of quality and/or cult status... then I'm sure a lot of fans wouldn't mind.

Since a handful of seconds isn't much to go on, best I can do is guess.

If the show ends up sucking, it gets swept away & Marvel will just reboot it so that it sucks differently next year or so...

However, if the show's a success, ::serious face:: it could be a problem.

Marvel movies, Marvel TV shows, mass appeal, Disney worldwide distribution...Mark my words. People are going to get caught in the cross...over.

Just imagine, if it gets ratings, then watch: over the next few years, they're gonna start making entire strings of marvel movies cross pollinated with their various TV story lines.

Just like the comics, it will become a nightmare to keep up with it all.

That's not even the worst case scenario either.

What if all those future crossovers ignite some sort of consciousness in Marvel, and it comes to life and starts to terrorize the city?

What then?

I, personally would prefer not to have a self aware Marvel crossover monster terrorizing MY city, thankyouverymuch.

Anyway, I'll watch the pilot with an open mind & see how it goes, but for the sake of mankinds future, I really kinda hope it flops

This I would put down to how much a) the big names want to continue to work with Joss Whedon (not an absurd thought, though I do deem it less than super likely, look how many big names appeared on "Friends" or "30 Rock") and b) if Marvel was smart enough to write the possibility of future TV appearances into the actors' contracts when they signed them. Downey Jr. I hear, has the single most restrictive contract of any of the stars. Marvel learned its lesson there and expanded for future stars, but I don't know just how far they expanded. Would be awesome, though.

Very happy to see Whedon back on TV with a ensemble cast in the Marvel universe.
The man is, in my book, one of the kings of fantasy storytelling, right with Abrams and the Nolans brothers. I'm so glad he finally has great success in theater, but still believe he should have a place on television.
And now, he does again, and it looks awesome, and I cannot wait to see... knocking on wood.

Well, one thing you probably need to know about Nick Fury, and that is a simple fact about him, in every single one of his incarnations, except for his Howling Commandos days: he is a liar. He lies all the time. Yes, for the greater good... but you still shouldn't believe a word he said.

And, obviously, when he told the Avengers Coulson didn't make it... he lied. Simple as that.
