Hi-5: next generation

Irvine, Maddren and Brant follow the exit of Nathan Foley, Kellie Crawford and Sun Park.

The three new cast members are all multi-skilled singers, dancers and actors who have won the roles after an extensive talent search.

Fely Irvine, who has performed in the musical Miss Saigon said: “There isn't anything in the world I'd rather be doing. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of Hi-5 and look forward to entertaining our audiences in Australia and overseas."

Tim Maddren, who had a guest role in Blue Water High, said: "You can't beat a job that encourages kids to be active while having fun. It's wonderful to see smiling kids everywhere you go, spreading a love of music, dance and fun."

Lauren Brant added: "The greatest thing about being in Hi-5 is having four best friends to play with every day while getting to dance, sing and act as a job." Her television experience includes roles in H2O, Mortified and The Starter Wife.

Hi-5 was co-created by McLeod's Daughters Posie Graeme-Evans and Banana in Pyjamas creator Helena Harris. But in 2008, Nine and Southern Star bought ownership of the brand, and have committed to five more series through to 2013.

Unlike The Wiggles and other kids' groups who own their creation, the Hi-5 brand is a strict employee-employer entity.

It is also franchised into other territories with other casts around the world.

The new team begins production on the 11th series of the popular kids' show which is expected to air in August.
