Hilary Duff headed to NBC, getting her own show

Hilary Duff

Duff Man is here! Err, Duff woman. Hilary Duff has signed a deal with NBC, according to Variety, and now her soul belongs to Ben Silverman. The former child star will be featured in a new series (to be determined) and be booked to guest star on a handful of NBC programs. Hopefully, she'll play KITT's girlfriend in Knight Rider.

Duff will work with NBC peeps and sift through various projects that the network has in development for her own series, though it's unclear which genre they're shooting for. Duff previously tried television for CBS in 2004, but the pilot was never picked up.

Disney launched Duff's career in 2001 with the series Lizzie McGuire, and she's released pop albums that were a huge hit with the kids.

Do you think Hilary Duff is ready to tangle with television?

Sounds good. SHe is a good actress seen some good movies with her in it.I will give it a try if NBC makes it good. NBC hasn't had much luck with shows lately. hopefully this will be different.

    I'll watch, she's a pretty good actress.

Hilary's a better actress than she is a singer; I liked her in LM and I think she'll be great in her own show again.

    Yes. Why not?

I saw her in War Inc. and I think she is ready to be a mature actress for a real TV show.

I'm Not A Big Fan Of Hillary, But I'll Watch The First Episode Too See Who Else Is In It, If I Like Anyone In The Pilot I'll Watch The Rest If Not I Wont Bother. Hillary Is A Bit Of A Goodie Goodie To Me. "/

Duff demonstrated a wealth of charisma and acting ability for Disney "tween" audiences. Now that she's in her 20s, it seems a no-brainer a network would give her a shot. A very wise move for struggling NBC. As long as the project is well-executed, I predict she'll pull more than the expected share of viewers. Almost dumb luck for NBC that she's been in a brief limbo to even be available for television (as opposed to film projects). Great move!

I'd watch the first episode regardless of whether I like the series' premise or not.But I hope it's a comedy, and not another procedural.

I was a fan of her movies, especially "A Cinderella Story," so I think she'll do fine with television, as long as NBC gives her a fair chance.

Fantastic! Does that mean she'll stop "singing"? 'cuz that'd be really great... that way she can parade in a show I won't watch and stop polluting the air waves at the same time! great news!

Yeah, I would tune in, it better be a sitcom and not a variety shows cause those ones usually get cancelled after the first few episodes, it should be titled The Hilary Duff Show, just guessing at what it should be called.

'Lizzie Maguire' was must see viewing in my house. I loved the character and the relationship she had with her parents. I am not too impressed with the HIlary Duff that has grown up though. She seems to be just another cut out 20something. Tried to like her sister when she joined '7th Heaven' but she was another non-actress. I sincerely wish Hilary the best....but am not planning to watch anything just for her.

Good idea but like its NBC mmm i hope they did not cancel it when it starts

The common thing about her, Lindsay and Britney is that they're all attractive twenty somethings, but at least Hilary has some maturity, I don't think NBC will be having a hard time with her, let's just hope she can act.

  • Ashs911

Yay! I love Hilary, maybe she's the breathe of fresh air NBC needs.

I hope she does well, because I honestly think she is a good person and a good role model for kids, much better than the Paris Hiltons and Lindsey Lohans of the world.

Depending on what kind of show this ends up being, this could be either really good, or really bad. Considering I rather like Miss Duff, I'm hoping for something good. Only time will tell.

    Nov 15, 2008
  • AnilThornberry

Oh come on..she won't be that bad. :))
I loved Lizzie Mcguire. As an actress and singer, she is fine. At least she's so far the only very famous Disney star who hasnt gone wild (and dont use her Reach Out video and say that she has..she's just matured). =)

Not the best idea... but who knows?

I like her music. Lizzie Maguire wasn't that fantastic but it was a Disney show... I'll give it a shot...

NBC should plant her.... on Heroes. She'll make a great villain :D

This is great! I used to watch Lizzie McGuire everytime it came on. Hilary's got talent. I hope that she gets a show that is successful, she really is talented. :)
