Hilton and Richie may reunite on Fox

Months ago, Paris Hilton announced that she and Simple Life costar Nicole Richie were no longer friends. She suggested that Richie would not appear in future seasons of the popular reality show and that the position would be filled by Hilton's new friend, Kimberly Stewart (daughter of Rod).

It is now apparent that the blonde socialite may have to eat her own words. Unnamed sources say that Fox has picked up the option on a fourth season of The Simple Life and that both Hilton and Richie are still under contract. Producers are considering multiple ideas for the new installment, one of which is to document an attempted reconciliation between the feuding duo.

If the notorious pair refuses to patch things up, the show may follow each young woman as she plans her upcoming wedding. In a stroke of PR serendipity, both stars are engaged--Hilton to shipping heir Paris Lastis, and Richie to deejay Adam Goldstein. Each bride-to-be has proclaimed her desire for a huge, elaborate ceremony. The preparation for the ostentatious nuptials will surely provide ample opportunity for drama and high jinks.

When questioned about the details of their quarrel, both parties were uncharacteristically closemouthed. Hilton stated, "It's no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends. Nicole knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it." Sources close to the heiress implied that Richie was jealous because Hilton received a greater amount of media attention.

Richie made no comment at all regarding the rift, but her friends intimated that she had simply outgrown the wild friendship, quit drinking, and was seeking a mature lifestyle with her fiancé.

Fox has remained mum on the entire affair, and has released no official statement outlining its plans for The Simple Life.
