Two new families, the Costellos and Sharpes, are joining the show, along with wannabe glamour model Mitzee and old favourite Lee Hunter.
The announcement comes after it emerged that a string of characters are being written out under new producer Paul Marquess.
Kim Tiddy, former star of The Bill, is to head up the glamorous new Costello family as ex-model Heidi, who soap bosses say is "more than able to hold her own".
Meanwhile, ex-footballer dad Carl, played by Paul Opacic, is an "incurable ladies man".
Eldest son Riley (Grange Hill's Rob Norbury) is set to cause a stir among the women of Hollyoaks, while younger brother Seth (Miles Higson) wants to step out of his brother's shadow.
Newcomer Gabby Sharpe's (Phina Oruche) arrival in the village sees her get knocked down as she attempts to escape her husband Phil (Andonis Anthony).
A Hollyoaks knight in shining armour comes to her rescue, but, as mum to Taylor (Shaun Blackstock) and Amber (Lydia Lloyd-Henry), she is torn over whether she can really leave her husband. Actress Rachel Shenton will play Mitzee, who longs to emulate Heidi's perfect life.
And Alex Carter reprises his role as Lee Hunter, who signs up to HCC, determined to make a fresh start with his old friends.
Hollyoaks producer Paul Marquess said: "We can't wait for this huge new boost of energy exploding on screen. These exciting new characters join our fantastic core cast. Together they will ensure that 2010 will be a year to remember on Hollyoaks."
