Home And Away set gets rebuild

The exterior of the house, which has played home to characters including Alf (Ray Meagher), Pippa Fletcher-Ross (Vanessa Downing) and Miles Copeland (Josh Quong Tart) over the years, was destroyed by a fire in New South Wales in 2002.

Series producer Cameron Welsh said he hopes to get to work on a new location next year.

He told the soap's Australian website: "We have been hoping to rebuild Summer Bay House ever since it burnt down but have been blocked for numerous reasons over the years, mostly our inability to secure a suitable location long-term.

"However, we now have that location and plans are well under way and we hope to begin construction in January."
