In the last episodes of House Season Five, Dr. Gregory House and his vixen boss Lisa Cuddy hooked up. Or so we thought. In the season finale, we learned that House hallucinated the whole thing. Damn! Fans have been rooting for the two doctors to get together for years. Looking toward the new episodes coming this fall, one question still lingers: What's going to happen with the "Huddy" story line?
As much as House fans wanted the real thing, the fantasy Dr. House and Lisa Cuddy (affectionately known as "Huddy") hookup is a good thing for the show. (House creator David Shore seems to think so too.)
In the last few episodes of Season Five, Dr. House began to suffer from Vicodin-induced hallucinations -- seeing his friend Wilson's dead girlfriend and letting her influence his medical decisions. In an unexpected twist, House tried to kick his pill habit and hallucinated the one-night stand with Cuddy. Fans expectantly tuned in for "the morning after" episode, only to find that they hadn't really slept together after all. Disappointed? Don't be. We got the best of both worlds -- the excitement of seeing a "Huddy" fling, while maintaining all that pre-coital tension.
A real one-night stand would have overshadowed Dr. House's struggle with Vicodin-induced hallucinations. After all, the show was never about the "Huddy" relationship, but about the extraordinary, troubled mind of Dr. House. What would House be without a Vicodin addiction and a secret lust for his ungettable boss? Normal? That wouldn't be any fun at all.
House's departure for the asylum hasn't spelled the end of "Huddy." At the TCA Press Tour, Shore assured Entertainment Weekly that the Huddy relationship would be further explored this coming season. The main focus of Season Six will be House's time in the asylum and the fallout at Princeton-Plainsboro hospital in the wake of his sudden departure. "House defined the reality he wanted to find," House creator David Shore said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Let's hope he continues to do just that.

I know House is a genious and stuff, but I get a little tired of his self involved mind games that he platyed with himself. If he's so smart, you don't galavant around acting like the near real people you're halucinating is like a mind puzzle you have to solve while curing people, it kind of gets annoying for him to chew up every personal crisis as a puzzle that he must solve and act like he is the main character in his own personal circus (even though in concept that is what it is for the show).I kind of miss the earlier seasons that felt more Bryan Singer influence feel to it.....even if the basic formula did get tiring and needed to be mixed up eventually.
I so wanted them to have really slept together, so when the hallucination was revealed i was terribly disappointed (but still impressed at the genius of the writers). I can't wait for Season 6 to start, and i hope they make a real Huddy fling this time.
anxious for season 6 in September...
They didn't really slept together. It's just House's hallucinations. As like Booth's dreams at last episode of Bones.
what a show - counting down the days...But would getting them together not be the begining of the end for this great show?
House is awsome and i hope for a fling too

:):):):)
Dakotagirl, I agree, I've been on Vicodin since 2001 for my peripheral neuropathy and I have never hallucinated. When I first started taking them I had some crazy dreams that seemed real and itched a lot but after a couple of weeks that all went away. I may not pop as many as House but I take 5 10 milligram pills a day. I'd say his hallucinations are also because of guilt or helplessness because of Kutners death.
Should be great seaon for HOUSE can't wait
I've never bought David Shore's explaination that House's vicodin addiction is the cause of his hallucinations. It's just as likely his hallucinations are the result of the guilt he feels over the deaths of Amber and Kutner. Fantasizing about wanting someone and making a relationship happen are two different things. Granted, House doesn't want to be in pain or miserable but the reality is that he is miserable and he suffers from chronic pain. While I'm not opposed to a real Huddy hook up, I'd rather it happens when the series ends.
I just hope they really have a fling. They cheated.
house's new season should be good
"Vicodin-induced hallucinations"
You dolts....part of the storyline is the fact no one is exactly sure why he is hallucinating. He has been on vicodin for years and never had a problem, why now? I hope you aren't throwing spoilers out there.
Why is this under news?
