Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan has split from fiancé Niklas Soderblom, People magazine and the Associated Press have reported.
Nicole Perna, Sheridan's publicist, released a statement to People confirming the breakup. "Niklas Soderblom and Nicollette Sheridan have parted ways after a year and a half," she announced. "They ask that you respect their privacy at this time."
Sheridan and Soderblom became engaged last New Year's Eve, but never announced a wedding date to the press.
Until now, Sheridan has vehemently denied rumors of her engagement's impending demise. At October 15's Los Angeles Red Cross Celebrity Auction, the Golden Globe-nominated actress showed up with Swedish actor Soderblom in tow. When People asked about the status of their relationship, Sheridan said that everything was fine and that the tabloids "should get the facts right before they print things."
Sheridan, who plays neighborhood tramp Edie Brit on the hit ABC series, was married to Harry Hamlin (L.A. Law) from 1991-3. This would have been the first marriage for Soderblom.

I have been a fan of Nicollette for years. She is one the top ten attractive women in the business in my eyes. Her attitude has a lot to do with her appeal. I'm glad she found another hit drama since Knots Landing.....
