How to Understand Law & Order: UK (VIDEO)

Remember how on 30 Rock on Thursday, the dialogue on Law & Order: SVU was wreaking havoc on Jack Donaghy’s new voice-activated TV-remote technology? Well, that minor confusion is nothing compared to the profound cultural disorientation that awaits you on Law & Order UK, airing soon on BBC America. Can’t tell your “bloody” from your “brilliant,” your “blokes” from your “mates?” This video—comfortingly narrated by the same man who does the U.S. Law & Order promos—will walk you step-by-step through Her Majesty’s thoroughly confusing justice system. Cheers, mum!

I suppose the biggest difference will be that British Cops wont be running around brandishing guns and shooting anyone that moves because they hve way too much paperwork to do, it would breach health and safety, the convention of human rights and would mean they would have to account for every bullet and ounce of manpower hours to the Police Complaints people. By the time they had done all that the blagger would be off scott free on a technicality because some one at the CPS would have forgotten to file the papers in adequate time.

Knackers = testicles (not trousers) aka Bollocks, Nuts, Nadgers and Balls
Bollocks however can also mean **** as in \'He\'s talking absolute bollocks\'.
Bollocks can also mean something very good as in:
\'How was that cup of tea?\' It was the bollocks or god\'s bollocks.
If it was exceptionally good, it can be said to be \'The racing Dogs Bollocks\'

That clip is so much better than every episode of every incarnation of Law & Order ever created. If you want a great brit procedural with a realistic streak this is the one to watch, anyway: http://www.tv.com/prime-suspect-uk/show/3927/summary.html?q=prime%20suspect&tag=search_results;title;2
