I am Alice in the Land of the Video Music Awards

Yes, TV.com and I were invited to be there, as was Alice in Wonderland, but I must say I had never leaned on our brother site, MP3.com, and its music editor Chris Rolls more. I could recognize faces, and I could tell who clearly was an artist and who was the 'handler' (there is more distinction in music than in television between these two, I learned today), but for many, I was left in the dark with the connection between a name and a face.

Still, I am proud to say I knew a few.

Snoop, who stood a few feet from me, had five body guards who happened to be the biggest dudes I have every seen in my life. The phrase "you don't want to mess with that guy" does not even cover these monstrous beings.

Speaking of big, I have never seen so many enormous pieces of jewelry...sorry bling, in my life. The music scene definitely made the Emmy bling pale in comparison. TV stars, you better get with the program, my friends!

Now on to the real reason I was there, aside from commenting on rappers jewelry. (I did see a watch which had so many diamonds you couldn't even see what time it was and a few had the same diamond-encrusted Cartier watches.)

I was able to speak to a few random but interesting TV personalities, including Nick Turturo (NYPD Blue), Donal Logue (Knights of Prosperity), Jordan Knight (The Surreal Life), Teddy Geiger (Love Monkey), and Alex M (Laguna Beach), among others. All of the videos are in the VMA feature, which launches shortly, if it has not already.

Upon leaving, I was greeted by a barricade of music fans all screaming and shouting. The police were there as deterrent. Alex M came out right after me and signed some autographs, and I continued my way across 50th Street and headed back to my hotel, sunglasses on, and happy to visit the music world on this two-day adventure, but mostly excited about being on the red carpet of the televised MTV Awards show Thursday night.
