American Idol may be looked at as the greatest thing ever to some, and a waste of television air to others, but the important thing is it's looked at.
Blessed with that droolworthy brand recognition, the producers of the show decided to use their power for good. Last year, an American Idol special titled Idol Gives Back rounded up celebrities and helped raised more than $76 million for various charity organizations through online and over-the-phone donations from viewers.
The gang will be at it again tonight on Fox at 7:30 p.m. for the second round of Idol Gives Back, and the list of famous people joining the cause is staggering. Never ones to shy away from an opportunity to get some camera time, all three remaining presidential candidates--Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John McCain--will participate tonight. The rest of the participants are listed below.
The special will once again raise awareness for various charitable organizations and accept contributions through the Internet and toll-free phone lines. The charities involved tonight include Children's Defense Fund, The Children's Health Fund, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, Make it Right, Malaria No More, and Save the Children's U.S. Programs.
Newly scheduled to appear are British Prime Minister Gordon Brown; Victoria Beckham; David Beckham; Maria Shriver; Jim Carrey; Adam Sandler; Alicia Keys; Julianne Moore; David Spade; Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson; Dr. Phil; The Jonas Brothers; Felicity Huffman; George Lopez; Kylie Minogue; Kobe Bryant; Eddie Izzard; Emma Bunton; Cheryl Hines; Kyra Sedgwick; Michael Kors; Minnie Driver; Ricki Lake; Rob Schneider; Jimmy Johnson; Roselyn Sanchez; Selma Blair; Toby Keith; Jimmy Kimmel; Whoopi Goldberg; Sarah Silverman; Michael Chiklis; Mary Murphy; Sheila E.; WWE Superstars John Cena, Triple H And Chris Jericho; and The Band From TV.

Idol Gives Back, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, airs tonight from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.

The whole idea of Idol Gives Back is just awesome. Although Teri Hatcher cannot sing good at all, so that was a waste of time. The American Idol contestants butchered "Seasons of Love" from RENT. Brad Pitt is such a generous man, kudos to him. I am so glad the show raised so much money, over $22 million.
American Idol sure is a great show, never let me down.
Brad is a very great man, I like him so much. I saw that he is in the top 50 men list of askmen.com. He should be the TOP1 in my mind. And i heard that he appeared on a millionaire&celebs dating club RICHLOVING. COM with a personal account there. Is it real or just a rumor on internet?
good on 'em
It's wonderful. My parents donated $1,000 and I wanted to help so I donated $20. Everyone who can, please donate!

What a list of names! I'm going to watch it.
Wow. That's a whooole lot of people. A lot of big names in there too. It'll be interesting to see how they cram all of those people into one show. I assume most of them will only have 30 second pieces.
