If TV.com Readers Were Emmy Voters... (POLL RESULTS)

Well, the 2013 Emmy nominations have arrived, along with the usual surprises and snubs. And now that they're official, we thought it'd be fun to take a quick look back at the results of our pre-nominations polls, in which we asked who YOU would nominate in the comedy, drama, and miniseries/TV movie categories. We've compiled the results below, and one thing is certain: If TV.com readers were Emmy voters, this would be a very different race.

Well, now we know what happens when you let random people (with strange tastes) vote an unlimited number of times on their favorite TV shows....

Big bang more than new girl / parks and rec? It seems that people chose the popular faux-nerd comedy over proper humor without a laugh track...

It's pretty obvious to me that this place reeks as bad as the EMMY's. I don't know what crowd you cater to but I want no part of this pile of bovine crap website.

Oh, come on, you know your polls are completely worthless, why'd you even bother publishing these results?

I have never understood the appeal of The Big Bang Theory, there are so many things about that show that really pisses me off. And I love Community as much as the next gal but the latest season, in my opinion, was a real fluke so I don't see why it should be nominated at all. Yes I know the actors are fantastic and not at fault, but voting for something because it was better once back in the days kind of undermines the whole point of the awards, again in my opinion. And I'm sorry but the lead actresses in dramas list?? Wtf happened there?? No Tatiana Maslany or Emmy Rossum??

What the hell happened to Drama series voting? Did someone pay for that????

The polls allowed you to vote as many times as you wanted. When they were up you tell someone was sitting there continuously voting for the ones they liked. Thats why every poll has one or two actors/shows that are more than 75% of the votes. Read some of the other comments everyone could tell these polls were rigged.

ok well i dont know what happened with the drama series noms, grey's anatomy? do people still watch that? and the vampire diaries? in my opinion they had a pretty shitty season this year. hannibal is good but i dont care about the rest of the shows on there and i like to think i have pretty good taste. i do like the nominees for the comedy categories tho, except for the winners. (minus zooey deschanel)

If Grey's Anatomy, The Vampire Diaries and Happy Endings are on the Emmy list, it'll be fine

If this were the actual Emmy list you'd still get people complaining about the nominees. In the case of the Emmys I think most audiences think more conservative shows are voted for in favour of more daring show. With this list you could argue that what is most popular got nominated, not what is actually the best. That being said this list isn't doesn't vary too much from the Emmys list... The Big Bang Theory sweeps the comedy section, and American Horror Story sweeps the miniseries. It's weird that so many people complain about the nominees of the Emmys, yet the two lists look very similar in some ways.

Apart from the Drama categories where most of the shows listed (if not all) are average shows, its a good list that reflect the choice of most viewers

Suddenly, the real nominees don't seem so bad.

Quite a lot of these nominations have nothing to do with quality and everything to do with how much some people love one show (and how efficient their bots were). Overall, I'm not sure this is a much better race than the Emmys' one, just for different reasons.

Wow, I thought the Emmy voters were terrible.

I agree with some elections, they are even better than the actual nominations. I really liked John Noble on Fringe :( and I think there shoeld be other options on the comedy cathegory.

I like it more for the most part, but there re instances in which best and favourite are different. My favourite lead actor might be Michael Emerson, but Bryan Cranston is a superior actor. I might like watching Hannibal or whatever else, but Breaking Bad is a far better show.

Ok, so I am biased for BB. Because it is the greatest show of all time, if on,y falling behind The Wire and the Sopranos. I haven't seen them.

But, I love all the love for Parks and Rec here. A superior show than the Big Bang Theory. And I also would have liked to see AD nominated for comedy series, but I guess this season was just too good for the critics...

okay opinions of tbbt aside, who has the time to vote for a show 70 thousand times?!?!1/!?
Reply

there has to be some way to code these polls to only allow 1 vote per IP address becasue 95% of those winning votes came from 1 person/bot.

a lot of sites use polldaddy, it tracks your IP address so you can only vote once per poll.

This illustrates well I think! I disagree a lot with the Emmy's and I disagree a lot with this list! It's all personal opinion :)

Well, considering your nomination system is a joke and you allow 12 year old little kids to vote an unlimited number of times on the same computer, I'll go ahead and side with the Emmy's on this one.

It is funny how you kept on criticizing The Office and constantly asked to "put it out of its misery", and now that it is over, you nominated it for best comedy!! Ironic much?! And obviously you've got something against Modern Family for not acknowledging its success. I'd love to see the look on your faces when it wins best comedy series again.

Err... Who is "you"? This is the result of the users (and their bots')' votes. Nothing whoever "you" is could do about it.

A few on here are dead on - Jake Johnson for example. But not sure about all The Big Bang Theory love... that's actually *more* like what the Emmys would do.

Yikes, even with the awesome inclusion of Hannibal, that is one truly horrible looking best drama category. No Breaking Bad, Mad Men, or Homeland? Grey's Anatomy and Vampire Diaries included...bizarre. No Claire Danes. I'd still take the disappointing official list over this one :s

Hannibal is good there is no doubt about it but it just can't pass Breaking bad ,there is no way Zoey dachnel wins over Amy poehler (for me)..i totally agree with u guys for best tv miniseries & best tv miniseries actor ...outstanding lead actress NINA DOBREV come on guys can come up with any one better than her

Nina Dobrev is actually not that bad, but far from being Emmy-worth (especially when there are so many talented actresses around nowadays).

Definitely prefer this one over the official one since TVD well never get nominated in the official one and there's more variety in the choices.

People could vote multiple times, right? So why bother telling us the results? I'm pretty sure the Emmy voters aren't allowed to vote hundreds of times.

Ever knows these polls are incorrect. It was clear when they were up that someone was continuously refreshing the page and vote again. This website should update the poll system. Poll daddy only allows you to vote once.

this list appears to be more accurate by my standards and is the one that most matches my preferences by ignoring some of the nominesse that are prezent on the list only because the show has good ratings, Talent is rewarded

One difference between this poll and the Emmys is that the voters would have seen all the shows. While there are those who might, people tend to vote more for the shows they have seen and those they haven't.

Most people that voted on the list voted based on their favourite shows not taking into consideration of quality other shows, can u imagine Nina Dobrev as Best Actress & Walking Dead in the best drama categories.

Since TV.com readers clearly know what they are doing, these choices must be better than those of the Emmy voters. And yeah, as you said, these are much different than the categories chosen by Emmy voters.

E.g. in the "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series" category there's only one name (Kerry Washington) which has been actually nominated for an Emmy. Claire Danes, for example, is missing. None of the nominees chosen by TV.com readers in the "Outstanding Drama Series" category got a real nomination, and so forth. The tastes of the TV.com connoisseurs are clearly very refined. The Emmy voters are just amateurs, trying to make sense of the rich pallet of the TV bouquet. They've got nothing on us.

I prefer the real Emmy list. The only show or person from a show I watch on this list is Jane Levy. But on the real Emmy list, I only watch Modern Family, Saturday Night Live (which I don't watch consistently, I haven't seen any episodes since December), and The Voice (which I watched in season 3)
