IFC Is Making More Increasingly Poor Decisions

... IFC's alternative-comedy-heavy slate won't get much lighter, as it has renewed David Cross's The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret for a second season. Season 2 of the show, about a temp who lies his way up the corporate ladder, will be six episodes long and will air in October. [IFC via press release]

... Fox has renewed screaming/cooking show Hell's Kitchen for two seasons, meaning Fox is closer to becoming The Gordon Ramsay and Seth MacFarlane Network. The seasons will air back-to-back and may start as soon as this summer. [EW]

... TBS has canceled freshman college comedy Glory Daze after just one season. This is a major blow for comedies with poor taste everywhere. [Deadline Hollywood]

... The Oscars have been airing on ABC since 1976 and they ain't going nowhere! ABC and the Academy of Arts & Sciences have extended their pact through 2020, a six-year extension on their contract. Don't forget, the Oscars air this Sunday on ABC. Was your favorite movie of the year one of the several hundred nominated for Best Picture? [Deadline Hollywood]

... More awards show news: The Emmys have decided to merge the Outstanding Miniseries and Outstanding Made-for-TV Movie categories. The move was made because the best miniseries category was light on competition, with only two nominees in each of the last two years. And because no one actually cared about them except for the directors' mothers. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Amaury Nolasco, previously on Prison Break and Chase, has signed on to co-star in ABC's pilot Work It. Which means Nolasco will have to dress up as a girl to play a man who cross-dresses to advance his career. Just like he did in Prison Break. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Adam Goldberg will try to play a policeman again in CBS' Rookies, a cop drama from Robert De Niro. Goldberg will play a former reporter turned rookie cop. [EW]

... True Blood Spoiler alert! Guess who is coming back to HBO's bloody and sexy soap? The wise, old kid Godric (Allan Hyde) will return for Season 4, even though we saw him vaporized by the sun. Wait, he's dead but he's coming back? This show has lost all touch with reality! [TV Line]

Adam Goldberg rocked in The Unusuals. Shame they cancelled it. It was an awesome show.
As of Godric coming back .... it's a mystery that can happen only in True Blood. And who is to say he doesn't come back just to play games in Eric's head?

slow day on the news front eh? adam goldberg is ok with me, he's been in a number of good indie films but him as a cop again? dunno how that will play out.. he would be better in something similar as criminal minds rather than a cop i would think. (like the quirky genius type or something like that)

I liked Godric and was quite bummed out that he had so little screen time as it was. Now i hope he's back for a good long stay.

Re: Godric's return to True Blood. Um, can you say "flashbacks"? Or the power of blood connections? Or some weird old-vampire power? This is fantasy Tim, you little devil's advocate, you!

If TV can try to convince us its normal to watch someone bake cakes each week or in any way condone that its okay to let toddlers suffer eyebrow waxes and fake teeth in the name of gawd-knows-what, then Godric can come back! Any way he wants to!
