There are simply some seasons of television that you have to watch in order to call yourself a TV junkieSeason 1 of Lost, Season 4 of The Wire, Season 1 of Battlestar Galactica, Season 2 of Arrested Development, etc.so get ready to check off one of the best. Starting tonight and continuing for the next several Wednesdays, AMC is rerunning the third season of Breaking Bad, two episodes at a time.
The high quality of Breaking Bad's third season is beyond opinion, so rare that I simply can't fathom someone not enjoying it. Breaking Bad Season 3 is the first thing I suggest when someone asks me what TV they should watch, and TV.com users appear to agree: the third season has an average user score of 9.39, compared to Lost Season 1's 9.22 (a site favorite). Breaking Bad's score is actually weighed down by a very controversial episode, "Fly," which was a brilliant art-house departure from what fans were used to. Other than that, there are two episodes scored 9.7, and two morethe final episodes of the seasonthat are scored an astounding 9.8. When almost 400 people (as of this morning) agree to score an episode (in this case, "Half Measures") a 9.8, it's because of more than a loyal fan base.
AMC is airing the reruns at the God-awful hour of 11:30pm through 1:30am, so set your DVRs accordingly and wear an extra tight hat to keep your brain from exploding all over the place. And just to think, if AMC had kept the show on schedule, Season 4 would be starting in about a month. As it stands, we're looking at a summer return. Bummer.
