In Memoriam: Remembering the TV Shows We Lost in 2013 (VIDEO)

Nothing marks the passage of time with more precision than the ever-swinging scythe of the grim reaper. The year 2013 may have brought us wondrous television marvels and untold entertainment pleasures, but it also struck down many of our favorite TV shows with the singular, unrelenting purpose of a wheat thresher. So now, in these fleeting moments before the angel of death named '2014' arrives, let us take a moment to honor our fallen.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is our tribute to the TV shows we lost in 2013. This list may not be 100 percent complete, but it is 100 percent heartfelt. Please enjoy, and afterward please tell a loved one that you... love them? Or whatever. Just enjoy life, basically! Because it's a circle and also hey, by the way, hakuna matata. Okay but no seriously, here is a video about dead TV shows:

Which of these TV shows will YOU miss the most?

Futurama, though everything has just felt like a great reprieve since they brought it back, so I guess I'm not as sad since it has had a good run.

30 Rock, but once again I feel like it had the right length run.

On the other hand, Don't Trust the B, Happy Endings, and Go On definitely should have gotten more time!

I would have liked Fringe having more time, too, though they did get to wrap it up. . .

Haha, and I don't know what to say about Dexter. I think I've missed that show since season two.

Just because I haven't had the chance to vent anywhere else - LEVERAGE! It was canceled last year in late December, so it never really got on any lists. And I still miss it, so there. Besides that, I don't mourn most of the dramas - a lot of them were really good, but it was their time. But Enlightened, Bunheads and Happy Endings (among others) makes me sad - THEY HAD SO MUCH MORE TO GIVE!

Well, it's not as horriblr as the 2012 massacre, but losing Fringe, Nikita and The Glades are the worst losses to me. Also Magic City, Dexter, Burn Notice, Smash, The Client List....it's still bad enough.

Huauuu! so many shows! I only watch few of those, but I am going to miss for a long time two:
FRINGE and DEXTER. These two shows, for my side, could have gone forever.
I miss a lot SPARTACUS, but for obvious reasons it has to end.
I love BREAKING BAD, but the cooking was already burning and could not go on.
I laugh with Mathew Perry and the rest in GO ON and I enjoy so much David Mazouz playing Jake in TOUCH, but who remembers them now.

This is dumb, you can't say we "lost" a show if it had only one season. We must first "find" the show so we can say we lost it. Though I regret Cult and Zero Hour got axed, we didn't "lose" them, they didn't bring their ratings high enough for the people to "find" them. "15 minutes of glory" is not enough to make you miss something the way most viewers will miss Braking Bad.

Too soon - Copper, Borgias, Magic City, Nikita, Treme, Delocated, Futurama, Spartacus, Don't Trust the B.. in Apt 23 ->...at least we still have The Eric Andre Show on Adult Swim!, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, and The 11th Doctor
Miss it but it was time - Fringe, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Eastbound and Down, Burn Notice
Lets get a do over for crappy or just plain rushed final season!!! - Dexter, Fringe, Nikita

This is how I should have divided my list. :) A way to divide things between "too soon" and "great show, but ready to go" eluded me when I commented. :)

Too soon - Magic City,

Yup. An excellent show for a select few. Boardwalk Empire without a homely lead...and a nicer ambiance...and not so much violence...and did I mention the lead was so very pretty?

Too bad STARZ has their collective heads up their collective asses and doesn't know how to keep a show on the air.

The last season of magic city was bad. that show shouldve been great. it had all the makings of a classic and didnt know what to do with it.
it ended up being a show called "How I Lost My Sons"

Third season is the one that should make or break a show. They had a great story filled with an impressive cast getting better as the story moved through its second season and they screwed with the creators from the beginning shortening the season order BOTH seasons after they had broken their stories for 10 episode seasons the network said make it work with 8. Both years they were on it was made clear it was on borrowed time. It maintained a decent audience considering where it was buried in the Summer. They F'd this one up as bad as they did 'Torchwood'. They had a good show and thought they could find better ones. They really have a lot sailing (pun intended) on 'Black Sails' with the what was their anchor 'Spartacus' no longer around to rely on.

Some of these had got shit and probably needed to end but they were good shows once and they'll be missed........... Dexter, Breaking Bad, Spartacus, Fringe, Burn Notice, Southland, The Borgias, Zero Hour

Yes, I actually will miss Dexter, even as much as I am still reeling from the

FUCKING LUMBERJACK!!!!!!!!!!!???????????
1
Reply
Flag
Agreed, will miss it but it'd got crap, and the finale was appalling, the worst finale to a show ever. I might have forgiven how he switched Deb off and took her out of the hospital the way he did, if only because the scene with him putting her in the water was good, and even though I never thought they should have killed Deb off at all, but the ending was unforgivable, again, it might have been good or forgivable if it had ended with Dexter sailing out into the storm, but that final scene with him as a lumberjack made it even worse.

Agreed. Sometimes a show loses its direction and needs to end.

Lmao. Dammit, how dare you call Southland horrible. That was one of my favorites. We obviously have very different tastes because I watched none of the three you mentioned. Though I hardly watch anything on network tv.

Southland was just quite different from all the other cop shows out there,it took a while to get used to the different style but i have to say it had some scenes that even when you have seen 100 like those on tv ,in that show it got me,it wasn't just another action scene, you were there with the police officer ,worrying for his life, feeling his heart beat ,it felt real.

Yea, like that rooftop battle where that rapist tried to leap to the next building and fell. That was and quite realistic

I'll miss those too. I'm surprised you like those 3 and you don't like Southland, it's very good, really gritty and hard hitting, I'll miss it.

Spartacus was great. The Glades kind of sucked. Mob Doctor was something to watch. Magic City couldve been one of the great ones. Tron: Uprising was ok. Green Lantern was poor. Attack of the Show was enjoyable. I love Olivia Munn. The Borgias was a favorite, much underrated. Southland was outstanding. Treme was so-so. Young Justice was excellent.. Dexter, Breaking Bad, and Copper are shows that made tv great, loved all three.

Agree with everything, especially from 'I love Olivia Munn' to the end. Southland was outstanding, I bet more get made, they can't leave it where it was left, it was axed before and came back, hopefully it will again.

1) The Glades - A fantastic show that didn't get the coverage it deserved, it ended with a gut-wrenching cliffhanger.
2) Fringe - This generation's X-Files, it at least got its ending.
3) Southland - This was well cast and the camera style made it so realistic. I miss the grittiness.
4) CSI: NY - They delved into some of the great secrets of NY, and didn't feel as theatrical and soapy as the other two incarnations.
5) Dexter - As long as I can ignore the shitty season with that dancing actress chick, it was pretty good. Some of the villains in the last season were whiny though. And WTF with the ending??
6) Burn Notice - Overplayed but some of the stories were still enjoyable.

And WTF with the ending??

We'd all like to know the answer to that. If the show-runner wasn't an ass, he would own up that it was THE worst finale in the history of television, and that his stable of hacks can't write their way out of a paper bag.

Do you miss Sharon Gless? Is anyone sad that the show made Sharon Gless bite the bullet? No? Just me?
