In Treatment set for more couch time

Though HBO's In Treatment made good progress in its first season on the air, network executives believe the treatment should continue for at least another season.

The network has ordered a second round of the half-hour drama, according to Variety, and will move production of the show from Los Angeles to New York. Filming is expected to begin this fall.

In Treatment, based on an Israeli show, stars Gabriel Byrne as a psychotherapist and focuses on not only his sessions with his patients, but also on his sessions with his own therapist, played by Dianne Wiest. HBO went unconventional with the show's scheduling, airing episodes each day during the week. However, Variety expects scheduling to change based on the less-than-stellar ratings (the show was critically lauded, though).

HBO has not yet revealed the roster of season-two patients, but did say that the supporting cast, which included Blair Underwood, Michelle Forbes, and Josh Charles, would likely not return except for the occasional small appearance. Law & Order: Criminal Intent writer Warren Leight has also been added as an executive producer and showrunner.

The first season of In Treatment debuted in late January and concluded its 43-episode run in late March. For more information on the show, check out TV.com's previous coverage.

I was surprised at this news (and glad of course) but yeah i thought to myself "did the show even get good ratings? it felt like it was cricitcally well liked but it didnt sound like alot of people felt like keeping up with it and i think i even heard the ratings werent great", so good to know i was spot on about that.

I also thought they already shot in new york (since HBO has a strong presence their and it's not as difficult to sell that as it is at larger non-premium networks).

Anyhow, glad it's getting renewed, i was kind of unsure about it coming back, part of me thought it was too great to pass up for HBO (and that is indeed true it seems) plus they dont have a whole lot else to cut from their lineup (also true, since it didnt get good ratings and they're still bringing it back).moreless
