Grey's Anatomy fans can expect to see a lot more of Isaiah Washington on television soon. However, the actor who plays Dr. Preston Burke on the popular medical drama won't be fixing up patients, he'll be trying to make amends for his own actions.
Last October, People claimed Washington used an antigay slur in reference to fellow Grey's star T.R. Knight during an argument with Patrick Dempsey. A few days later, Knight came out and admitted he was gay in response.
At January's Golden Globes, Washington said the alleged slur in denying that he had used it in the first place, sparking even more controversy. Washington then agreed to go to counseling and meet with gay groups in an attempt to reconcile.
Now Washington's publicist says the actor is going one step further and will appear in multiple public service announcements for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, reports the Associated Press.
No date has been announced for the PSAs to appear on television.
