Isaiah Washington doing PSA for GLAAD

Grey's Anatomy fans can expect to see a lot more of Isaiah Washington on television soon. However, the actor who plays Dr. Preston Burke on the popular medical drama won't be fixing up patients, he'll be trying to make amends for his own actions.

Last October, People claimed Washington used an antigay slur in reference to fellow Grey's star T.R. Knight during an argument with Patrick Dempsey. A few days later, Knight came out and admitted he was gay in response.

At January's Golden Globes, Washington said the alleged slur in denying that he had used it in the first place, sparking even more controversy. Washington then agreed to go to counseling and meet with gay groups in an attempt to reconcile.

Now Washington's publicist says the actor is going one step further and will appear in multiple public service announcements for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, reports the Associated Press.

No date has been announced for the PSAs to appear on television.

What's America coming to when they make you go to counseling just because you have an opinion??? I don't get it. If an atheist says something about a Christian no one sees them being forced to go to counseling!!! The US is becoming so demoralized and it's making me sick!! Yes, it's not right to call others names, but this is not just!! America is supposed to be the land of the free, but it seems like the gays are taking over and going overboard with how much freedom they think they deserve and taking freedoms away from the ones that actually have sense in their heads. Just as "Judas25" said, "...when u start wanting ur own kind, how can u be labeled normal?" Pick up a Bible and read it and you'll see that homosexuality is an abomination against God. He despises it. He does not despise the person, because he loves all, but he despises their behaviors and orientations. Jude 7 indicates that Sodom and Gomorrah’s punishment was due to their sexual perversion. Their sin was not simply one of violence (rape) but of sexual immorality (homosexuality). As further evidence of the sinful nature of homosexuality, Leviticus 18:22, and 20:13 both describe homosexuality as “an abomination.” And I'm not going to say Sorry for saying the truth. "Isaiah, I'm hoping you'll realize that your opinion was just that, and if you don't agree with something then you shouldn't be punished for it". GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU

come on...who can deny that gays are NORMAL? nature intended men to "do" women. even our anatomies say so. when u start wanting ur own kind, how can u be labeled normal? in my opinion, isaiah was indeed a weee bit over board with his remarks. but the gay communities are over reacting.

face it, when you are NOT normal, dont expect to looked at as normal. sigh....some kinda culture. only in america!

Now that's taking it a way too far, ever heard of public record - private matter? The whole thing is between Isaiah and Knight so why don't just let em' work it out on their own? Why does everyone always have to go around poking into other people's business!?

I hope Mr. Washington is doing this on his own free will because he wants too. Any other reason is wrong because now his rights have been taken away. I feel he has been horribly harassed on this issue by the media and the gay and lesbian groups. America's freedom of rights have been taken away from us by groups like this. Anymore everything is turned into a witch hunt.

I agree that this is overkill on the subject. This whole fuss has sort of made me less of a fan of the show, unfortunately. As long as he apologizes to TR and the rest of the cast, this is really a private matter between those people.

I think overkill would be an understatement. As long as they are civilized enough to not kill each other while shooting the scenes in GA, why should we care about Isaiah's ideas on the subject?

I think most people had forgotten about it by now..he's just drawing more attention to himself.

Hilarious response to the article!!

But I know what you mean. Yeah, it's one thing to feel bad about being called out like that, but now it's overkill.
