One of the belles of the ball at this year's Oscars was Diablo Cody, the former-"exotic dancer"-turned-screenwriter. The tatted-up Cody was a big story at the button-up event, taking home the golden statuette for original screenplay for indie darling Juno.
Now the hot scribe is putting herself into contention for another Hollywood award--the Emmy. Showtime has officially picked up her television series The United States of Tara for 12 episodes, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The comedy stars Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine) as a wife with dissociative personality disorder and John Corbett (Sex and the City) as her husband, who--along with the rest of the family--must deal with whatever personality shows up at the time.
Cody, who penned the pilot, will remain onboard as writer and executive producer with Steven Spielberg and a handful of others.
Showtime is targeting an early-2009 launch, with production beginning this summer.

Actually, the correct term is "Dissociative Identity Disorder". The psychological community has largely dissmissed the term "Multiple Personalities" as it isn't really discriptive of the underlying condition.
I believe the technical term is "Mutliple Personality Syndrome."
Thank you for putting the phrase "exotic dancer" in quotations. That one thing really bugs me when people talk about her. I'd go into detail about how I don't consider her an ex-exotic dancer, but this isn't the time or the place. As for the show, it sounds like it has a chance to be good, especially with Toni Collette in the lead.
Awesome !
sounds promising, can't wait to see the pilot, and Toni Collette is an extraordinary actress
Interesting.
I think that's interesting too.
No one invited you.
Oh...sorry.
I may have to check this out. Showtime hasn't let me down so far.
