It's Your 45th Christmas, Charlie Brown!

This week (well, December 9, to be exact) marks the 45th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas—and to celebrate, we've put together this handy look back at the classic Christmas special's special place in TV history. Created in 1965, the program originally came about because advertising agency McCann and Erickson (yes, the very same one referred to on Mad Men), approached the Peanuts crew about doing a Christmas special to promote one of their clients—can you guess which one? Click through the interactive timeline below to find out, and then set your DVR to record this year's broadcast, scheduled to air next Thursday, December 16th at 8pm on ABC.

Given so many folks rabid desire to do away with anything remotely Christian during Christmas, frankly I'm surprised that it's still on TV.
