J. Lo goes to the Park

For years, Silverlake has been the home base for hipster Los Angelenos who derive a sense of artistic cachet from their zip code. Now, some of them may want to move to Echo Park.

Jennifer Lopez' and Simon Fields' Nuyorican Productions is producing Echo Park, a half-hour comedy pilot for the FX Network. Per Variety, the show will revolve around the clash of yuppies, Latinos, and hipsters in the Los Angeles neighborhood.

The pilot will be produced from a script by Ian Edelman. Nuyorican recently produced the TV drama South Beach, and Lopez is producing the MTV show Moves, about dancers trying to make it in LA.

Earlier this month, Lopez bailed out on the movie version of the '80s TV series Dallas. She had been cast as Sue Ellen Ewing opposite John Travolta's J.R. Ewing.

Echo Park was previously the subject of the 1986 film Echo Park, starring Amadeus' Tom Hulce and Susan Dey, of LA Law and The Partridge Family.

i hope this turns out to be good. it would be especially good to see latin folks in leading roles for a change. hopefully it will speak truth on the gentrification of urban neighborhoods and how silly these yuppies and hipsters are tying to be cool. but, i highly doubt it. after all it is tv.

As long as she's not *on* the show, it should be OK.

And this will last how long.....

J Lo should stick with what she knows, oh that's right, then she would be doing nothing.

Whatever. Anything from FX usually gets my viewership. So I'll watch it at least once.
