If TVGuide.com's Michael Ausiello is correct, it appears that CBS executives may be listening to the pleas of its viewers.
The gossip hound says that "multiple sources" have indicated that CBS is very close to green-lighting a deal to bring the Skeet Ulrich vehicle back to the airwaves. The agreement would allegedly bring the show back for eight episodes, possibly as soon as midseason.
When CBS left Jericho off its 2007-2008 schedule, fans of the show went ballistic. Online petitions were signed, message boards were flooded, and CBS execs' e-mail boxes were bloated with pleas to renew the show.
But the most creative ploy saw fans sending nuts to the corporate offices in defiance. The idea was spawned from the show, when Ulrich's character replied "Nuts!" to a neighboring city offering the postapocalyptic town a surrender. The phrase was borrowed from US general Anthony C. McAuliffe, who said the same thing to German forces during World War II.
Online retailer NutsOnline.com got in on the act, offering discounts to fans who wanted to send heaps and heaps of nuts to CBS, and Jericho fanatics gladly took them up on their offer. According to the Web site, 39,279 pounds of peanuts have been shipped.
As far as extending the number of episodes, eight would not be enough for Jericho producer and creator Carol Barbee, according to the Los Angeles Times.
"The idea would not be to bring it for eight and out, but to bring it back for eight with the hope that it would keep going," Barbee told the LA Times. "They're making deals with the actors and there's other logistical stuff to work out too. Swingtown was supposed to take over the same stages so it's a lot about the logistics of how to work out a schedule that works for all of us."

Great! I'll be watching.
I adore Jericho and I am so grateful to CBS for keeping our show alive, and with an interactive website, we are having a ball being part of such a huge fanbase for Jericho. Come check us out CBS.com
YES!!!!! O...........GOD Yes Thank You CBS
yippieeeeeeeee
Ah, the power of Nuts!
Bring it back!
I've never seen Jericho, but because of all the fan protests I am very interested to see what it's all about now. I think that if CBS DID bring it back, it would get more viewers because of all the fuss made lately. I know I'll be watching!
YES!!Bring it back Now!!!!!!
Let it go people!
i am so proud of all the JERICHO Rangers who fought hard for the show. this is history in the making guys. never will a network dosregard viewers anymore. nad the old media is out! Neilsens doesn't count anymore. the people online does.
Thank you, CBS. Thank you for listening and remembering who makes your shows what they are.
Im not sure if this has been mentioned in all these comments, but it is finally official. CBS released a statement on the Jericho board that says it will be coming back for 7 episodes...not entirely sure when, but at least its coming back!!! YAY!
good never had chance to watch
While it was hard for me to stuck with the show because of the long hiatus, I'm glad they decided not to leave us hanging with the start of the firefight. If they are going to cancel it permanently, at least give us some resolution.
I personally haven't watched the show, but if it were a show I watched, I'd totally love to have back, hope Jericho fans get what they want.
hurray for us :D for those of us who kept the flame burning for Jericho :D I guess that the returning of Jericho had a big impact because of the fans ;) good job everybody!
I'm so happy it's coming back. I can't wait.
I have mixed emotions, I would like to see how the battle ended, but by seeing the American flag with the stripes running verticle is evidence that those who mastermind the internal attack on major US cities are in charge and they are going to be searching Jericho for that last nuclear bomb. If that is how the revived show is going to be like, let it stay canceled.
cant wait for season 2
THIS IS SWEET!! bout time a network does something right....correcting mistakes is a step in the right direction. Oh ya!!
Kudos to CBS for having the courage to correct there mistake. SCifi sorta did it with Farscape PK wars, Firefly sorta did it with Serenity, and now Jericho looks ripe for a comeback! All we need now is to bring back the Nine!
Wow! It is very empowering to see that the network actually LISTENED to the viewers. Hats off to CBS. Heck, I just might watch a couple of their other shows too!
I found out about this last night from different sources, and I must say I am uber happy.I was one of the proud fans to send nuts, and boy am I so...just wow, there isn't a word. CBS canceling Jericho in the first place was just about the dumbest move they could have ever made. (Or was it the smartest, seeing all the brilliant free advertising they got?) But bringing it back...that was just about the best thing CBS could have done. If they do actually bring it back, even for 8 episodes, it PROVES that they care, and it PROVES that they will listen. This type of campaign is something that has been done before maybe 2 times, and NEVER on a scale such as it was for Jericho. Jericho fans should be proud, because the moment CBS green-lights Jericho for a second season, history will have been made. As it was, this has been the largest TV protest in history...and it worked. It just goes to show you what some obsessive fans with a lot of heart can do with addiction and a whole hell of a lot of peanuts.Simply put, this is brilliant.moreless
YAY!!!!!!!!
OMFG! BEST NEWS EVER!!!!! ALL THESE PETITIONS AND CAMPAIGNS HAVE ATTRACTED LOADS OFF ATENTION, SO HOPEFULLY THEY'LL BOOST THE VIEWERS!!!!!
WE LOVE U CBS! THANKS! BRING IT BACK OR WE WILL KILL U!
Studio 60 !! I'm in....but I'll have to settle for Jericho.
I'm guessing roughing the execs up for Invasion to return would be pushing the envelope!!
Now all we need is The Class back!!!!!!!
Brilliant. Excelllent news =)
Now we need to get to work saving Veronica Mars and Studio 60.
F-ing marvelous! =) looks like we actualy won! =) can't wait!
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't freakin' believe they're bringing it back. I reckon that all it was was that viewers simply dropped the ball and kept forgetting to tune in a BIG freakish accident which nearly cost the show and my life (Joking btw :D) and I was SSSOOOOOOOO P'd off when I heard it was getting cancelled cos I was the most revved up I've ever been in a long time when I watched that last episode and was gagging to see the huge gun battle. What will happen next is the sort of stuff which as young boys, we crave and adore and for me I found myself getting that old feeling back and for me to never get to see it would have just destroyed a paret of me but now there's hope - COME ON CBS, I take back all the horrible things I've been saying about you - I love you - just give the viewers another chance and they'll try to be good and not miss the show anymore or will at least set their Tivos to it.
I mean, when I lost Fastlane after one season and got left with a real 'B' word of a cliffhanger was one thing and I just can't handle it again.
Thank you CBS.
YEAH CBS 'WOOP WOOP'!!!!!!!:Dmoreless
CBS, do the right thing! Networks must at some point come to grips with the changing realities of TV series consumption (online, DVR, etc). They must also be willing to accept responsibility for the viewership decay that can occur when a long hiatus occurs. Note to series producers - if you get these eight episodes, make DAMN sure they're great, because the fans are going to want far more than that!
Sweet! I'm so gratified that all our hard work and feedback is forcing cbs to actually pay attention to what we have to say.
Man on Man! I hope that Jericho does come back, even if it's only for 8 episodes (though I'm hoping for more!)! :) I was quite disappointed (to say the least) to hear that Jericho wasn't coming back in the fall... and I'm glad that there is at least a possibility of it coming back now. I send a big thanks to everyone who made even that remote possibility happen... :)
That's what happens when fans dump 20 tons of nuts in your lap
You better believe that fans can make a difference, it worked for Star Trek and Firefly. I hope the Cbs guys like the nuts i sent. Nice and salty you sorry sacks jerks... sorry i was just so PO'ed when i read that they cancelled it, but i guess they learned the error of their ways.
thats just amazing news ... i hope they do it ... !!! Go on CBS >. show the you care about the viewers .. Jericho just started in Germany on ProSieben and people there seem to be taken by it as well .. so don't let all the TV Stations down that put faith in the show as well and PAID you loads of cash in license money...I can't wait .. :)
Awesome news
damn good show, especially at the end of the season.I didn't think sending all those nuts will actually accomplish anything, but I guess it did. these things don't happen very often
YAY!!! I hope they do bring it back!
Woo Hoo!!! About damn time. Can't wait to see the new episodes to see hot it unfolds. :D
Here's hoping the shareholders of CBS gave their views on the matter as well! Long live Jericho!!!
its stupid to even think of cancelling it.
WOW !! i cant believe it .. great News .. Jericho Rules!!
OMG, I am so happy this is going to happen. Best show on tv and it is coming back....I am very happy.
This is great! Eight is a generous offer, but yes, 13 would be better.
hurray, get it back on (and possibly make the cliffhanger with more tension)
murphys law says that at the end of season 2, they'll have another HUGE cliffhanger, and it'll be canned again... and back on the nut wagon we get.
Ohhhh I so hope this is for real and that we soon get an officBS confirmation !!!I'm so proud of being part of this truely faihtful fanbase that fought for JERICHO !!!Let's just hope that the actors don't make it to hard and play along !!!WOW JERICHOWOW CBS
I'll certainly be happy if the show comes back.
