If you were in the area, you may have wondered: what's the deal with all the cops?
Behind the plethora of police and fancy movie equipment, an animated Jerry Seinfeld could be seen shooting a commercial for an Australian bank smack in the middle of town. It's a delight for residents.
"Nothing ever happens in Cedarhurst. It's great," said resident Aliza Schwartzblatt.
Fans came out in droves to see the comic hard at work.
"He's practicing all his takes. It's really cool," said Zahava Zimmerman.
And many hoped of getting a glimpse of comic royalty.
"We were here since seven in the morning. And we waited by his trailer, and Jerry signed our best friend's brother's cast. And we saw him high-five someone and said hi to him and he's so nice and it's so exciting," said an exasperated Chani Spirn.
So why is the commercial being shot for an Australian bank in Cedarhurst? Jerry's people said he wasn't talking, but we got the scoop from the folks from the bank down under who hired him.
"We figured that Jerry Seinfeld was a big enough star to do the commercial where he wanted. And he wanted to do it here," said John Dwyer of the Greater Building Society. "It was more convenient for him."
They went all out for the shoot, creating a makeshift bank out of one of the stores right on Cedarhurst Avenue.
"I think we're paying him about US$10.50 and there's some lunch money in there," said Dwyer.
Nonetheless, it's a rich experience for star gazers in a most unlikely place. As for the commercial, it's set to air in Australia in July.
