Jim lives

Like horror-movie bad boys Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers, and Freddy Krueger, just when one thinks Jim Belushi is done, he springs up again ready to slay with his brand of deadly comedy.

ABC has announced that Belushi's sitcom According to Jim has been renewed for a seventh season. The deal comes as a bit of a surprise, as many thought the show was left for dead when it failed to make ABC's 2007-2008 programming at this year's upfronts.

The show has been a consistent performer for the network, never doing great, but never doing horribly, either. According to Jim is a family-style sitcom with Belushi as the patriarch, Courtney Thorne-Smith as the wife, and a trio of kids.

"When Brillstein-Grey approached me with the idea of doing a family show, I didn't realize the family would extend so wide," Belushi said in a statement. "For six years, it's been a joy being part of the ABC and Touchstone families and part of each and every family who have been loyal viewers of our show every week. This season will top all the rest. I'm thrilled to continue this seventh season with these extended families."

According to Jim debuted in late 2001. For more information on the show, read TV.com's previous coverage.

It's a pretty okay show but it doesn't compete in my primetime lineup. I'll watch them in syndication if the i happen to be flipping around.

Jim Belushi has always been a fine actor and great comedian. I am happy for him even though I watch the show only ever so often.

So if ABC can bring back that and CBS resurrects Jericho, why can't the CW bring back Veronica Mars??? Why?

Season 1 was good. The jokes actually made me laugh. I don't know what happened after that: I've never seen a show jump the shark so early, the jokes became redundant and the writing horribly bad. As far as I'm concerned there is no good sitcom on the air nowadays. I hope Back To You will finally change that.

The problem with Accoding To Jim even though I accasionally watch it is the shows jokes are two predictable and old.

Sitcoms died when The Cosby Show went off the air. The only comedy I'll watch on network tv is Scrubs.

What possible reason could there be for this show to come back? It's just a lame very unfunny show.

let's hope that Courtney will be part of the cast for the next season to. AtJ is not a bad show, I'm glad for the renewal

So what's up with Courtney Thorne-Smith? She said she wants to leave the show. Will she be back or not?

Because According to Jim is a mildly entertaining show that is funny at times while maintaining decent ratings and Veronica Mars is not entertaining while doing horribly in the ratings

Really, I guess Jim should send a thank you card to NBC for renewing Scrubs. If they hadn't ABC would have picked it up and left Jim with Damon Wayans.
