Mr. John Lithgow!
Serial killer Dexter Morgan will have a new source of inspiration and obsession in the next season of Dexter, and it's a two-time Academy Award nominee. John Lithgow, star of 3rd Rock From the Sun, has been cast as a legendary serial killer that moves to Miami in Dexter's fourth season, according to the network.
Showtime says Lithgow, who received back-to-back Oscar nominations for The World According to Garp and Terms of Endearment in the 1980s, has been cast as "The Trinity Killer," a seemingly normal man who just happens to be one of the country's longest tenured serial killers. Dexter returns in late September, and Lithgow will be featured in all 12 episodes.
Fox's 24 has also added to its cast, signing on Jennifer Westfeldt and John Boyd for the upcoming eighth season, says The Hollywood Reporter. Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein) will play journalist Meredith Reed, and Boyd (Fringe) will have his breakout role as a CTU systems analyst.

XooKey - You are thinking of the movie Ricochet in which John plays a hit man who tries to destroy Denzel's life. He was very good in that, but in Raising Cain he played an even more terrifying character with multiple personalities. He has PLENTY of on screen proof that he could easily be the very very best choice the Dexter team could ever cast for this sort of role, the man is SUPER talented at being evil - just so few people have seen that side of his acting career because he has done so much else that wasn't, so often and so well. I promise you folks this is incredibly exciting news for Dexter fans - this one actor could easily make this the standout season of the best show on TV today. I can't remember the name of the movie but he played a great serial killer in it. It co-stared Denzel Washington. I think he will be great in Dexter. His is a great actor.

I can't really see John Lithgow as a serial killer - Let alone a legendary one but then again I couldn't see Jimmy Smits as an evil ADA and he pulled that off quite brilliantly so who knows it could work and I'll definetly tune in to find out.
The casting for Dexter villains has been brilliant and Lithgow is just another notch on the show's belt.
