Jon Stewart paid a visit to The O'Reilly Factor this week for an interview that was split into two parts, with the first half airing yesterday. It's always fun to watch Stewart get into it with his adversaries, and he and ole Bill discussed Obama, Fox News, and Jon's popularity.
Stewart's playing an away game here, and it's interesting to note how different his body language is when he isn't on his home court. I'm not sure whether it's him playing the role of courteous guest on someone else's show, or if he's*gasp*nervous (Stewart nervous? Unlikely), but it's something to note.
It wasn't long ago that these two would have feasted on one another's entrails had they the chance, but things have clearly simmered down between them, and I think it's for the best. They know they'll never meet idealistically, but they still have respect for each other. We might miss their heated arguments, but I guess that's what Glenn Beck is for now.
Are you looking forward to seeing part two, which airs today?

Seems to me everyone BUT Jon Stewart would put a label on him about what his "importance" is...To my way of thinking, he is firmly rooted in reality, and he can simply present reality with a spoonful of sugar to help it go down. That's it. Period. Well, I suppose it helps if it makes people think... Jon wins.
Well in John Stewart tell it like it is. Fox "news" is laughable and biased.
You go Stewart, here I was thinking that being on Fox they would paint Stewart far worse but he held his own against the nazi news network (sorry, Fox I meant Fox...)
sollasollewmn: I was impressed as well.
They have great respect for each other? I think there were a lot of cheap shots and contempt coming from one side of that roundtable, and I don't think it was from the guy on the left. Begs the question why Stewart came back? BTW - the "slacker/stoner" comment was regurgitated from an equally contemptuous interview of JS that O'Reilly conducted on his show in 2004. Maybe the self-titled "No-Spin Zone" should be reconsidered. How about the "My Ideas Are So Tired I Have To Plagiarize Myself Zone?"
I was hoping for more fireworks. Maybe round 2 will be better.
I was surprised to see OReilly dispute that Fox News has a bias and call Beck an "everyman". That was a losing battle, I don't think even his fans believr any of that by now. Of course, he didn't have much else, either. With Stewart being openly critical of Obama, OReilly's claims of propaganda feel very hollow.
i think he's less combative here b/c there's just no point arguing with Bill.
I was surprised to see that anybody can fit into the same room with O'Reiley's ego.
"but I guess that's what Glenn Beck is for now."
You found a use for Glenn Beck? Wonders never cease.
Cool vid
