"He book-ends the seasons," says Chandon writer/star/producer Rob Carlton. "We see him in episode one and episode eight. We also see him in episode three but the presence of 'Carmichael Chandon' is always felt as the team try to hit their targets.
"We still get a good spray of Josh Lawson and as usual whenever he comes back he lights up the screen. He's a seriously funny boy."
Lawson is so in demand at the moment that Carlton nearly didn't get him back.
"We would have loved him for a full season for series two but he was contracted to the FOX Network over in the US. We were lucky to get him when we did and he certainly made himself as available as he could for us."
Lawson is one of several familiar faces to appear in the second season of Chandon Pictures. Along with regular cast-mates Rebecca Massey and Darren Gilshenan there are appearances by Lachy Hulme, Dan Wyllie, Roy Billing, Don Hany, David James, Lynette Curran and Marshall Napier.
Although it has been a home-grown success for the Movie Extra Channel, Carlton says the ABC season has brought in many more fans for the tale of a fledgling video production company.
"We were thrilled with the ABC sale," he says. "Being on the ABC is great cachet. They've got one of the strongest comedy platforms on the television being Wednesday nights. They gave us a 9:00 slot after Spicks and Specks which we're thrilled with.
"It's a great chance for us to reach a larger audience. And also a great way for people to find the show so they can tune into Movie Extra this week to watch season two."
Chandon Pictures screens 9:30pm Thursdays on Movie Extra.
