The EastEnders star - who has already competed in and won the charity special for Sports Relief - is a huge fan of the BBC celebrity talent show but has been banned by soap bossed from taking part for the last three years, The Sun reports.
EastEnders producer Diedrick Santer stopped cast members signing up for the show as it interfered with filming schedules, but now 25-year-old Kara's character Dawn Swann and her on-screen lover Garry Hobbs, played by Ricky Groves have been axed from the soap.
Kara will leave EastEnders in August and a Strictly insider confirmed the show was in talks to sign her up for the new series in September.
The source added: "Kara has made it no secret that she has wanted to do Strictly for years. Hopefully we can make it happen.
"She's exactly the kind of contestant that we want on the show."
Kara -- who is dating former EastEnders co-star and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! winner Joe Swash -- won last year's Strictly special dancing the samba with ex-England cricketer Mark Ramprakash.
