The former cohost of Live with Regis left the syndicated talk show in 2000, claiming that she would never again work on television on a regular basis. Until now, she's held true to her word, appearing only in stage productions and making scattered guest appearances on TV. But when The Insider executive producer Linda Bell Blue offered her the chance to choose her own news beat, Kathie Lee Gifford had to reconsider.
"The more I thought about it, the more I realized how much I would enjoy it," Gifford said. She was thrilled to choose the Broadway beat, as she has been involved with the theater her whole life. "Being a member of The Insider family gives me an opportunity to do what I know, television, with what I love, theater," she stated. "I'm looking forward to finally casting a well-deserved spotlight on the world of theater. And it's no secret that I love to talk, but the real secret is I love to listen, too."
Beginning September 12, Gifford will appear as a "special correspondent" on the syndicated entertainment-magazine show at least twice a week. She'll conduct interviews with big-name celebrities and cover the hot news on Broadway.
Gifford's other TV credits include appearances on shows such as Hope & Faith (which stars her Live replacement Kelly Ripa), Touched by an Angel, The Simpsons, Just Shoot Me, and more.

I am so upset about the show Insider. First of all, 22 minutes of the hour is commercials ( I know that is common), but what really ticks me off is that they spend half of the other 44 minutes teasing us with what's to come later on in the program or tomorrow. We hear over and over and over and over and over and over and over about what is coming next. Get my drift??? It's irritating and full of fluff, NO SUBSTANCE. Please do good reporting and don't waste our time telling us what will come on for 50 times before you show it. It's very annoying and classless.
