Kelsey Grammer piloting new ABC comedy

No, it's German for 'The Bart, The.'
(a little Simpsons joke for ya)

A new show is in development over at ABC--a sitcom about a corporate tycoon who ends up getting the pink slip after the company he worked for is forced to downsize its workforce. This sounds like a job for… Kelsey Grammer.

The venerable television star has signed on to star in said sitcom, according to Variety, going back into the business that made him a five-time Emmy award winner. And the role seems like it was written for the man who played Dr. Frasier Crane in Cheers and Frasier--after getting laid off from his company, the bumbling executive attempts to reconnect with his family.

The new untitled ABC pilot is being written by Tucker Cawley, who previously worked on Everybody Loves Raymond and Welcome to the Captain and is currently scripting Amy Poehler's top-secret project.

Frasier, I mean Kelsey, was last attached to ABC's Roman's Empire but the network decided to pass on the project. Prior to that, Grammer and Patricia Heaton formed a can't-miss comedy powerhouse for Fox's Back to You (the can't-miss comedy powerhouse ultimately missed and Back to You didn't last a full season).

Grammer will also be featured in the film remake of Fame. Kelsey's daughter, Spencer, is the lead on ABC Family's Greek.

I miss Frasier! Too bad they couldn't bring that back.

Sounds good as Kelsey is a LEGEND........I just wish they didn't cancel Back to you. As it had a great cast, and the Kelsey, Heaton combo was great.

This sounds like it may be quite fun, and a new project for Kelsey is a good thing too.

Sounds good. Back To You was canned before it's time, and it was replaced by Do Not Disturb >=@

I like how people call TV shows the small screen, but in reality TV shows are much bigger than movies these days, heck, even video games are doing better than the movie industry.I'll definitely watch this, I thought Kelsey was great in Back to you, to bad it was on a horrible network, and I loved Frasier.

I'll give this a chance. It'll be great to Kelsey back on the small screen again.

Maybe becoz he's been Frasier for so long, i just can't imagine him in another role. And even then i wasn't such a big fan of Frasier, so i'm thinking i'll probably give his new show a miss.

Well, Kelsey hasn't been that funny since Fraiser has been off the air. I do hope he can regain that special groove. This show will really only make it if they get a good ensemble cast. He seems to work best in ensenble shows -- Cheers and Fraiser, anyone?.

Any man who either plays a part for two decades or is responsible for a sweetheart as beautiful as Spenser is ok in my book. And 'cause Kelsey did both I'll watch anything he creates.

I'll give it a chance because Kelsey Grammer is usually guaranteed to give you a few laughs. While I wanted to see Roman's Empire on US television, Grammer would not have been good in that role, but this one seems like something more up his alley.

     Roman's Empire? wasn't that a BBC show?

I'm a huge fan of Kelsey's and I like the concept but he'll always be remembered as Frasier Crane.
