The great country of The United States of America can rest easy… but terrorists better watch their backsides. Actor Kiefer Sutherland told The Associated Press that he will continue to keep the country safe on the small-screen.
While in Hong Kong to promote the release of the animated movie Monsters vs. Aliens, Sutherland said 24 will be back for an eighth season/day and that he will also be back as the butt-kicking Jack Bauer.
"If I was going to liken 24 to a girlfriend," Sutherland said, "24 has been really good to me. And I need to be really good back."
There had been questions of whether 24 was going to return, and whether or not Sutherland would be back as Jack--but he put those questions to rest.
"There are plays I want to do," Sutherland said. "There are so many different things I would like to do, but I was so fortunate to be part of something like 24 that my focus is still on that right now."
Fox has yet to officially announce the show's eighth season, but given Sutherland's comment, expect one soon.

Excellent! Good work Fox..I think Jack is going to die end of this season. Plot of next season can be an adventure day from his previous life.
that fantastic thanks
yay!!!
No one else could play Jack Bauer. He is the reason it is addictive. He as an actor, as beautiful as he is, takes the incredible writing from his writers and perfects it on the screen that it looks so real. Can't wait for the 8th season. It is so addictive.
Awesome news!
i mean 3 after season 5
it was already renewed for 2 seasons after season 6 and with the yr off that would mean kiefer contract ends in 2010 not 2009 like it shouldve been
Great news. 24 has been pretty good this season.
SWEET
Great news!!!
I'm so happy about this. It's not really surprising though. During season 5 the show was renewed for 3 more seasons so it's to be expected. It is the ONLY show I watch. I'm gonna cry when it finally ends.
I already know it... what i know already its that maybe Season 8 it will be the last

Great news! :)
Go 24!!! I have to agree with the other comments - this season is great. Its definitely my second favorite season after Season 5.
I was into 24 for the first and second season, lost interest after that only saw it once in a while the rest of the seasons. I got back to 24 when the movie came last year, and started up again at the start of this season I have to say this is one of the best seasons yet. It has me at the edge of my seat and I have to say love the whole plot line so far and the story they have done so far with President Taylor being hostage at the white house was great. Cant wait to see what else comes along.
I agree with tony382, this season has been amaizing, I like it more than the last one... it really, really was worth the wait :)
Nice, can't get enough of 24. This season has been great. I'm surprised they came back so strong after the season 6 debacle.
This current season of "24" has been very exciting. I'm totally down for seeing some more of Jack. As long as it doesn't start going into the dumper again, I'm all for it.
What I really want to see is Jack snap and have an entire season of him being the terrorist. Now that would be some good TV!
I have to disagree 24 is far from getting old. Packed with action, great story-telling and a fantastic cast of characters what more could you ask for. Escapism at it's best, television's answer to Bruce Willis' John McClain of Die Hard. This season is absolutely great!
i must admit the show is getting old, but yet still kinda interesting
I haven't watched 24 in years but I really respect actors that don't leave their shows just cause they think they can do better. Most of those actors actually end up doing worse.
