The sci-fi world lost one of its best this weekend. Kim Manners, producer of The X-Files and Supernatural passed away on January 25 in Los Angeles after a battle with lung cancer. He was 58.
Manners made his mark in the science-fiction genre with his work on The X-Files, serving as producer on the landmark series from 1995 to the show's conclusion in 2002. His most recent work came as producer and director on The CW's Supernatural, even helming the episode "Family Remains," which aired just a few weeks ago.
It wasn't a strict diet of sci-fi for Manners. He also directed episodes of programs such as 21 Jump Street, Simon & Simon, Charlie's Angels, and even Baywatch.
Supernatural creator Eric Kripke released this statement regarding Manner's passing: "Everyone at Supernatural is walking around in a daze, shocked and absolutely devastated. Kim was a brilliant director; more than that, he was a mentor and friend. He was one of the patriarchs of the family, and we miss him desperately. He gave so much to Supernatural, and everything we do on the show, now and forever, is in memory of him."
You will be missed, Kim.

Kim brought so much to both shows and even though most of us never met him, we can still honor his memory by sending our thoughts out to him and whatever family he might have. (It's supposed to be January 25, by the way.)

R.I.P Kim! We will miss you!
This is so sad, but does anyone else than me think that it's weird that it says: passed away on February 25? If this is true, this must be the sadest article he ever read...

We'll miss you on Supernatural Kim! RIP!
Kim Manners was an absolute talent. He brought life and energy to Supernatural, and took it to heights it probably never would have been able to reach, and made Supernatural a great replacement show for fans of The X-Files. It is of course on this show that he truly made his mark, as one of the most talented directors on the show, brilliantly helming some of the best episodes across the 52 episodes he directed, including the pivotal mythology episodes "Zero Sum", "Emily", "Redux II", "Two Fathers", "Requiem", "Max", and not to mention my favourite episode of all time, "Closure", as well as the brilliant stand-alone episodes "Home", "Demons", "Chinga" and "Leonard Betts", not to mention being given the job of directing the two hour series finale of The X-Files back in 2002. He always gave 110% week in, week out, and will be extremely sorely missed by everyone. Rest In Peace Kim Manners.moreless
