Kutcher brings May-December sitcom to Fox

Perhaps drawing on firsthand knowledge, actor/producer Ashton Kutcher is producing a sitcom pilot about a man who marries an older woman, Hollywood trade paper Variety reported Monday.

Fox has made a pilot commitment to the show, tentatively titled 30-Year-Old Grandpa. Holly Hester (The Drew Carey Show) is writing the script, which centers on a young man whose marriage makes him stepfather to kids who are almost as old as he is.

Kutcher and his Katalyst Television partners Jason Goldberg and Karey Burke will executive produce the project for 20th Century Fox TV.

Set in Chicago rather than Hollywood, the sitcom is not likely to directly reflect Kutcher's marriage to actress Demi Moore.

"It started out as an idea about a mother and daughter having kids at the same time," Burke said. "It then dawned on us that the guy's point of view on this was the comedy hook." She described the show as "a very modern, messy look at an extended American family."
