The tear-soaked pillows of Gilmore Girls fans may still be moist after the abrupt cancellation of the popular CW show last May, but life must go on.
And life has definitely moved on for the show's star, the dearly beloved Lauren Graham. The 40-year-old actress has made her first step back to television by signing a development deal with NBC, the network announced today.
The highly sought-after star was the target of several producers, but NBC managed to woo her with the ultimate deal-maker--cold hard cash to the tune of seven figures, says Variety. The hefty chunk of change will keep Graham on board the network for a new series developed specifically for her to star in. Details of the project have not been announced, but the network reportedly likes her ability to work in both comedies and dramas.
Network chairman Ben Silverman, who championed the deal, said, "Lauren Graham is a fantastic actress and brilliant comedic voice. She's so respected in the industry and is a huge get for us."
Likewise, Graham praised Silverman, who recently took over operations at NBC. "I am impressed by Ben Silverman's taste and vision for the network," she said in a statement. She also used the opportunity to show off some of that comedic voice Silverman touted. "Also, after having spend so many years representing the frog on The WB, I am especially comforted to be part of the only other network with an animal mascot."
Graham's other work includes the films Bad Santa, Evan Almighty, and appearances on the television shows NewsRadio, Law & Order, and Caroline in the City.

I think it's great that we will get to see more of Lauren but I really hope they do the movie to tie up the loose ends of Gilmore Girls too. It is not right for a show to have such a following and have it end the way it did.
yay i just hope whatever she does gets broadcast in the uk, she's such a great actress and deserves something just as great as gilmore girls, anything less woudl be a betrayal to her talent.
i have to agree shes an extraordinary actress, can't wait to see what she'll be playing
Oh, I am so happy to hear this news. Now, if the show could be set in Stars Hollow, we'd all do cartwheels--and eat some donuts!!

Well if we can't have GG I think this is the next best thing, and kudos to her for getting such a great deal. I hope they make the new show suit her rather than the network though, she's a quirky one.
She is a great and she had showed us how good she is. It will be nice seeing her in a new series...so i am looking forward to it.
Yaay! She is great! And such a milf;D
Hopefully she won't speak more gibberish like in the Gilmore Girls. You could practically skip half of the episodes. But good for her. I like her, despite the random talks.
Good luck, Lauren!
Hope for her that's not like making a pact with the devil.

I cant wait to see it either.....she has emense talent and shouldnt go to waste!!
Good for her
I can't wait to see her new series! It's gotta be awesome b/c she's in it and she's awesome herself.
Goody for her. Finally she will be able to pick the men she really wants to work opposite to, or kiss or cozy up to rather than loathe the guy for 7 years. Men like David Sutcliffe (aka Christopher), Chris Eigeman (aka Jason, aka Digger) or even Scott Cohen (aka Max Medina). Hopefully for her all these wonderful prospects will be available to fawn at her feet.
this is gonna be cool! she's a really good actress!
I can't wait!!:D
Well I'll always remember her as Lorelai but I guess seeing her in a new TV show won't be SO bad.
