Are any of the Law & Orders ever going away? They've come close, but like our current society, TV needs Law & Order… lots of it. NBC has renewed Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for another season, says EW.com, bringing the drama to its 11th cycle.
Citing inside sources, EW says an official announcement may come as soon as early next week. One thing not set in stone are the contracts of the show's two leads, Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay.
While it isn't likely that the two star will be unsigned, it isn't out of the realm of possibility. Both actors were reportedly quoted as having questionable returns to the show last season, with Meloni getting bogged down by negotiations, and Hargitay eyeing more family time. Hargitay's recent health problems could also give her a new outlook.

I don't really want to lose them either, but if it stays an issue of wanting more money, I'm sorry but they need to grow up already! Given the state of the economy and how many "regular" people don't even have jobs, not to mention all those who have even lost their homes, they should be willing do without a pay increase for a little while.
SVU is the best for me. I watch CI sometimes and the original even less.

How many times have the detectives on the original L&O changed now? SVU could survive a cast change in the top two, but only if it's just one of them who doesn't come back. Losing both, though, would probably be a deathblow.
altho the best Law and Order is without a doubt CRIMINAL INTENT-I do enjoy the SVU and hope that they both come back-altho they could give Ice and John more parts!!!
Every show needs some sort of cast change, so I can understand if they don't come back - or come back in limited roles, etc. But overall, I do hope they return. The Benson and Stabler duo are the trademark of SVU.
SVU is the best, hands down. i can't wait for season11 but i hope benson and staler come back!
Through all these seasons I still love the show so I'm glad to see a renewal, but again I just can't see it without the two. Hopefully they will return and give us a good season.
It's not SVU without Stabler & Benson. I love the cast the way it is, though I hope Stephanie March returns ful time. She's always been my fave ADA.
not my favourite of the LAW AND ORDER franchise , that said its made in such a way that the show goes on with new leads. hell let them go
I love the show but w/o Mariska I really won't be into the show! rememeber when they replace her with beck for a few shows? SVU totally sucked!!!!!!!!!!!
let the show die. 9th and 10th season were awful. they ruined hargitays' character and made stabler mor eof a nutjob.
350,000 an episode!?! Sign me up for one, I will be happy with just one ep!
Listen up! Chris and Mariska can't seem to survive on 350,000 per episode and are asking for more money. As much as I enjoy watching them on L&O, their greed is turning me off. With so many people unemployed, they should be grateful they have work. It's going to be interesting to see if NBC gives into their demands or gives them the boot.
I agree with pretty much everyone. If Chris and Mariska leave, I'm done with the show.

The main reason I love to watch SVU is becuase of the two main leads and their relationship. Without Chris and Mariska, I wouldn't really be to bothered about it anymore.
Whoa! I hope Mariska's health isn't causing too many problems for her and her family! *sigh* But it is true ... SVU wouldn't be the same without the two leads. I couldn't stand it when in Season 8 I think it is, the other girl came in to partner with Stabler. No offense. But it's ONLY Olivia that fits.
For the longest time i have been the biggest die hard fan// EOness MAJOR fan. svu language meaning wanting Olivia and Elliot to end together... basically in the words that everyone right now is thinking.. SVU back season 11 GREAT... Mariska & Chris not Back= NOT GREAT. svu is based around fans of the two lead detective, with them gone, rating WILL go down... no mariska and chris, no more svu for me! && i truely loved the show, it just wouldnt be the same without them..

SVU is definitely my favourite of them all, but Chris and Mariska are the ones who really made the show what it is today, so i hope to hell that they'd be back.
I agree without those two the show is dead maybe thats what NBC wants so they can replace it with another hour of Jay Leno or a pointless reality show

I really do hope that Mariska and Chris stay. It wouldn't be right without them.
I don't like SVU that much because there's too many personal details about the characters. I fell in love with L&O because it was all about the case and no personal stories of the detectives or whoever were told. Of course other criminal shows pay much more attention to personal relations of the main characters, but since it's a part of L&O I don't need it there.
SVU is the best of them in my humble opinion. Love the characters.

I'm lovin' Lupo and Bernard! Can't believe they came up with this pairing. After all this time, it's better than ever. Jeremy Sisto should be a huge movie star, so let's enjoy it while it lasts.
I will not watch SVU if Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargity aren't in it.
SVU is the only one I watch, sometimes I'll watch CI but not usually. Hopefully Meloni and Hartigay will stay otherwise the show will be different. And they really need to start including Munch and Fin more.
The original L&O was is the best to me.It will be weird not seeing Hartigay & Meloni in the show if they don't sign back on.
