Like is in the Air on Bones and Castle

If googly-eyes is an illness, the characters on Castle and Bones are definitely under the weather. Monday's episode of Castle and Thursday's episode of Bones, "The Predator in the Pool," each gave us an hour's worth of sidelong glances and lustful stares, interspersed with really creative investigations. On Castle, we met Detective Tom Demming (Michael Trucco), Beckett's (Stana Katic) new leading man. And on Bones, marine biologist Catherine Bryar (Rena Sofer) made eyes at Booth (David Boreanaz) while Andrew Hacker (Diedrich Bader) tried yet again to win over Brennan (Emily Deschanel).

It seems like the two URST-driven shows are copying each other, and maybe they are. But I'm enjoying watching the main characters branch out and kick it with similar versions of themselves. Demming was more than a match for Beckett, as he shared both her "combative" personalty and her sarcastic wit. And even though I'm all for the idea of Brennan and Booth ending up happily ever after, I can't deny that seeing each one of them have fun with someone else made me smile. They're both attempting to move on after the big rejection in "The Parts in the Sum of the Whole" and, even if Hacker and Bryar are nothing more than spring flings, the story is no longer at an URSTy standstill. At the very least, Brennan will geek out with the super-nerdy Hacker, Booth will regain his confidence with super-sexy Bryar (who's at least as pretty as Brennan!), and both will probably get laid. At the most, Brennan will realize that she can't be with an equally-socially-awkward man and accept the fact that she's in love with Booth. It seems like a win-win.

Castle is far from reaching the five-seasons-of-URST milestone, so it would seem that the relationship between Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett has a long way to go before reaching a breaking point (as Bones did in "The Parts in the Sum of the Whole"). But Castle and Beckett are supposedly going to address the the tension between them in the Season 2 finale and hit the fast-forward button that Bones just hasn't been able to find for all these years.

What do you think of Beckett and Booth and Brennan's new beaus? Will the new flings turn into real relationships? Will the old flames burn bright? And what's going to happen in each show's season finale?

After Chuck resolving URST in such a... sustainable way last week, I'm not sure I'll ever see an episode of either show again. I was about ready to move on from Bones, which hasn't been good for a while, anyway.

Geez,Castle is just a downright copy.It shouldn't even be on the air.Even David Boreanaz has declared so publically. It's an insult to Bones.I mean,it's essentially trying to be the same show as Bones, except in that the cases are better, the procedural aspect is more gripping, the other characters are more developed, and the leads are incomparably better and(though it has to be noted with disgust that Castle has even stooped as low as to get actors with certain physical characteristics which are an imitation of DB and ED) impossibly better looking

Note that the Castle spoiler is careful to say "decisions will be made for each of them", not that Castle and Beckett necessarily getting together. I'm not holding my breath; I fully expect one to spurn the other somehow.

I watched Castle for the first time last night, I recorded Den Of Thieves, and to tell the truth I just thought the show was a bit above average, as far as cop shows go I prefer Southland.

On Castle, I liked Demming so far. He seemed to be an okay guy after what we have seen so far. I'm also glad that they might be making a decision about their tension problem. I'm not one of the major Castle/Beckett shippers but since so far, as someone on the Castle forums pointed out, Castle has been following Bones' timeline with the whole building the tension up in season 1, introduce a romantic interest for the lead female in season 2, etc, I would like it if they took a different direction. I like Castle and wouldn't want it to be seen as following in Bones' footsteps (even though Bones is a very successful show and I love it dearly) since it would make it feel like Castle is just copying Bones in regard to the sexual tension between the leads. Castle is already pretty good and will continue to stand out if it goes in its own direction.

On Bones, I liked Booth and Brennan's new beaus (well, Hacker wasn't new). They should help provide some interesting storylines until Booth and Brennan get together and we will hopefully be able to see each other be jealous of the other for a while. Emily and David do a great job of keeping the chemistry strong. Judging by the spoilers we have heard, it sounds like there are going to be some major things happening so I'm very excited.

Bones and Booth can't get together because it would redirect the focus of the show to their relationship rather than the case at hand. Their relationship is there to provide depth to their characters. Spending so much time focusing on that relationship could bring an early end to the series.

I hardly think these two shows are copying each other. These plot lines are as old as storytelling. Each show is great but I don't want either couple to actually end up together. That would just ruin their chemistry together.

Castle is an OK show but come on, between castle and bones there is NO COMPARISON! True that bones is very frustrating at times but in some crazy, twisted way i suppose that frustration and eagerness and rise in anxiety is what keeps you addicted! Bones all the way!!

I love Castle, such a great show. I love Beckett and Castle together, great chemistry. I'm completely over Bones and I have been since the season three finale. Losing Eric, Losing Zack just completely killed it for me. The rest of the characters and the stories by itself just was not good enough to keep me interested.

I just love these two shows! I do hope that in the finale both couples will get together. We need more sizzle on TV.

I'm so bored with Bones. The only couple with chemistry is Hodgins and Angela. On the other hand Castle is fantastic. The stories, characters, chemistry, and writing all far surpass Bones. Watching Castle and Beckett get closer is going to be great fun. They'll make a really fun couple to watch. I can't wait.

Professionally, Bones is awesome. She's got it all. As a person, she's got a lot of witch in her with a capital "B". Boothe should look elsewhere. Not exactly sure what is keeping Castle/Beckett apart...it's never been explained.

I liked the Castle episode. The case was good and the character complications are new; Stephanie is right: it's too early to finalize a Castle-Beckett commitment. Bones was a good case too. But on the complications front for this series, I can't stand Rena Sofer (witness NCIS debacle) and the "Hacker" character is an obsequious twit! I thought that Bones' "I'm not good enough" confession an episode back, was out of character for a woman with such confidence otherwise, and that it didn't fit with the show. It felt like filler; like a bad attempt at story line extension. Do the deed or don't. But move on with it one way or another...

I don't see why can't Castle do something similar to Ross & Rachel from friends. Let the characters be together for a while then break them apart and let them be with other people for years.. til they realize they were indeed a match for each other. A win-win situation, without turning millions of fans into berserker rages over unecessary URSTs..

I want Booth and Bones to somehow end up together. I hated the chick, she was pretty, but she and Booth had no chemistry. Bones is so stupid sometimes. And also, I want Angela and Hodgins to get back together as well.

On Bones, the only relationship worth interest is Hodgins and Angela! They are hot! I want to b@@@@ slap Bones! Bones would be happy with an auto f$$$ machine!
I love Booths new girl!
