Liu may jump from Mafia to Dirty

Regardless of what happens over the next month, Lucy Liu has a job next season at ABC. The actress's current gig is as lead on Cashmere Mafia, a Sex and the City-style program about four professional women in New York City. However, Cashmere failed to impress viewers in its debut season, making it a prime candidate for cancellation.

ABC isn't keen on letting the actress leave the network, though, and already has something lined up for her should Cashmere be thrown into the closet. Conditional on Cashmere's cancellation, Liu is in talks to join Dirty Sexy Money--another new ABC show--as a series regular, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dirty Sexy Money, which was granted a second season last year, stars Peter Krause (Six Feet Under) as a lawyer, adviser, and problem solver to the Darling family, a clan of wealthy socialites with a younger generation living (and partying) off of the riches earned by preceding Darlings. Also starring in the dramedy are Donald Sutherland, William Baldwin, and Natalie Zea. Liu would play a lawyer, but exact details haven't been disclosed.

Dirty Sexy Money is expected to return to ABC's lineup next fall. The fate of Cashmere Mafia should be determined over the next month, when ABC presents its schedule to advertisers.
