For Lost fans, even the smallest nugget of information is critical. At this year's Comic-Con, showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse spoke a little about the anticipated fifth season, revealing that Russo's backstory would be told, Jin would be around "in some form," and that a new method of storytelling would be incorporated.
But one thing that they didn't talk about was new characters. However, it's obvious that some are en route and will play critical roles in the show's intertwining storyline.
Last year, early casting calls gave Losties their first peek at Abaddon (Lance Reddick) and the freighter folk (Jeremy Davies, Rebecca Mader, Ken Leung, and Jeff Fahey). This year is no different.
EW.com reports that the show will introduce two new characters named Caesar and Ilanna next season, both of which (in typical Lost fashion) are "as mysterious as they are lethal." Caesar is said to be between the ages of 35 and 45 and is physical, intelligent, and charming. Ilanna is a European woman in her late 20s or early 30s with some serious smarts.

I too am looking forward to more Black Rock stuff. I would like to see characters from it.
I love the fact that people are saying "i hope it isn't another Paulo and Nikk" but guys get this... no matter if you loved or hated them, people still talk about them, meaning they are part of the shows legacy more than you realise.
I think these new characters will have something to do with the Black Rock. I bet the first episode, when the eye opens will be of one of them and on the ship. I hope, because I´m looking forward to that story.
Has no one else thought that Paulo and Nikki were there to show us that you can appear dead and not be dead....like say someone in a coffin........

All I want is for the show to come back. Fall is a wasteland this year. And if you think this show is about nothing more than a crashed plane, you must not have watched past the pilot.
Yeah, I too hope Caesar and Ilana aren't the next Nikki and Paulo. Especially since "Caesar and Ilana" isn't as catchy!
My guess would be that these two kids will be parts of Locke's (formerly Ben's) entourage, "the Others".

i thought the show ended this past season... i stopped watching 2 episodes into the last one... just couldn't stand it anymore how drawn out it was. Bleh... one more show to ignore this year anyway
Yeah, new characters really are hit or miss on this show. And, yes, paulo and nikki were the most ***ed characeters ever. Worseover, they were symbolically the worst plot decision Lost ever made.
