Several Thursdays have passed since television viewers last saw a fresh episode of Lost, and the strike-shortened fourth season only has five episodes left. These are dark times for Lost fans, indeed.
However, it appears as though brighter times are in store for the best show on television about polar bears, time-jumping, and staged plane crashes. According to TVGuide.com, producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof are in discussions to add an extra hour of Lost this season. Hooray!
Season four of Lost was originally slated to have 16 episodes, but was cut down to 13 because of the writers' strike. The show's producers were having some difficulty squeezing in all season four's story lines into 13 episodes, so an extra 60 minutes would be warmly welcomed.
It's unclear how a 14th hour would be included in season four. As it stands, Lost is returning to the air on April 24 and will wrap up on May 22, along with the finales of Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy. A two-hour season finale would seem unlikely, as Lost will begin airing at 10 p.m. when it returns, and having people stay up until midnight is a ratings death sentence (not to mention the inevitable complaints of insomnia caused by a mind-blowing finale).
Nothing is set in stone yet, but adding an extra hour of Lost seems like a no-brainer. Give it the thumbs up, ABC.

the stop-date for Lost is 2010 they said that last year, they won't end it before then.

Hey! I am sure those network executives can figure something out in order to give us an extra hour of Lost. That is why they get paid big bucks.

April 24 - Episode 9
May 1 - Episode 10
May 8 - Episode 11
May 15 - Episode 12 (Finale Part 1)
May 29 - Episode 13+14 (2 Hour Finale Part 2)

Yeah, I'd say bump the last episode back a week so it (hopefully the two hour season finale) can air from 9-11. Frankly the more LOST we get this season the better. 14 episodes is better than 13, afterall ;)

Whatever they can do to squeeze in that extra hour of "Lost", they should do. Season 4 has been a complete mind-blower so far, and if the somewhat mediocre season 3 gets a 2-hour finale, the season four deserves at least the same. At LEAST! :-)
Season 4 has been one of the best so far. I hope it gets that extra hour to give it a kick ass finale
Season 3 wasn't my favorite at all. But season is awesome.

I hope it does go through and if it was me putting together the schedule then I would air Episodes 9-12 as planned and then I would air Part 1 of the finale on a special day and time of Wednesday, May 21 @ 10pm and then resolve the finale with the 2nd half on Thursday, May 22 @ 10pm.
OR another possibility would be if they aired 9-12 as planned and then took 1 week off and then aired the FULL 2 hour finale on Thursday May 29 @ 9pm.

they should put Greys on @ 7 then have UB finale @ 8. So then Lost 2 hour finale can be at 9 ending at 11 so then we wont have to stay up til midnite.
Or they can skip GA finale for the next day or something i been missing that show and its not that great this season.

They can't start the finale an hour early because of Grey's Anatomy, and May 29th is outside of the standard TV season.-Regardless, an extra hour = good to me.

they could just skip lost for one week so then on the 29th greys anatomy and ugly betty will be gone, which would free up some time slots
Um... Why woudn't they just start the 2 hour finale 1 hour early? It's not like tv schedules are set in stone, they move shows around on an almost weekly basis these days.
