Lost rules Saturn Awards

Despite the myriad flashbacks, flashforwards, and time-jumping of the fourth season of ABC's Lost, the time is clearly NOW for the sci-fi drama. Season four not only reinvigorated the interest of many fans, it also reminded those who hand out awards that it's still a worthy contender for some golden hardware.

The 34th annual Saturn Awards, which recognize the best in science-fiction, horror, and fantasy television and film, were handed out last night, and Lost dominated the small-screen categories.

Lost took home four awards, easily the most of any TV show, including best network television series. The program beat out fellow nominees Heroes (last year's winner), Pushing Daisies, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Journeyman (so good it got canceled), and Supernatural. Matthew Fox, who plays the oft-bearded Jack Shephard, won best actor, and fellow cast members Michael Emerson (Ben Linus) and Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet Burke) won supporting actor trophies.

Showtime's Dexter, starring Saturn-Award winner Michael C. Hall as a serial killer, won best syndicated/cable television series, standing out in front of a pack that included Battlestar Galactica (last year's winner), Stargate SG-1, The Closer, Kyle XY, and Saving Grace.

Other awards went to Ghost Whisperer's Jennifer Love Hewitt for best actress (again), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' Summer Glau for best supporting actress (Glau tied with Lost's Mitchell), Family Guy: Blue Harvest for best television presentation, and season one of Heroes for best TV DVD release.

On the film side of things, Cloverfield stomped all over the best science-fiction film awards, Enchanted ruled the fantasy film award, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet St. hacked up the horror film category.
