Love Monkey swings again

Love Monkey, the Tom Cavanagh comedy-drama that was canceled after only three episodes, will get a second life on music channel VH1. The network, which already ran the three previously aired episodes, announced it will air the remaining five unaired episodes beginning Tuesday, April 18.

Monkey told the story of a record-industry A&R man, played by Cavanagh, who longed for love in the Big Apple. The show was generally well reviewed, but CBS canceled it due to poor ratings.

One of the main features of the show was music, and the theme song "Someone Who's Cool" was performed by the defunct band Odds. The show featured many musicians in cameos, including Ben Folds, LeeAnn Rimes, and James Blunt. Eric Bogosian also played a supporting role.

Unaired upcoming episodes include appearances by Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer and rockers Aimee Mann and John Mellencamp.

I watched every episode when it first aired and was surprised at how abruptly it ended. It was a really good show. I'm glad that some of you were able to catch it again on VH-1. I kept seeing people refer to Aimee Mann on here. Just an FYI...she did some songs for very powerful scenes in the movie Magnolia. The movie was the best one I've ever seen about raw, human suffering, and how not matter how strong people are they too have a breaking point. Aimee Mann did beautiful work for Magnolia. So check it out Aimme fans!

Who can we write to get more episodes?? Love Monkey was one of the best written and acted shows I've seen in a while. And they're cancelling Reba now? What are "they" thinking???

It's really a shame that this show only has a few episodes...I caught it on MMM and I LOVE IT!

In a world of stupid reality shows and over done police drama's, comes this absolutley natural story of life in a world surrounded by music. I hope the network reconsiders and give the people what they love!

I had wondered what had happened to this show, then found it on VH1. The excitement has since left me as it no longer seems to be running. No news on VH1 running any more episodes, either. Truly, that bites.

I really hope that VHI or someone else picks up this show next season...it was a great show that wasn't full of fluff and sex, and made you think. I'm very disappointed that CBS pulled it!

None of these networks give a lot of these shows a chance, if they do not get 10 million viewers they cancel them it seems, uhhh what about Tivo and D/Ling big wigs...Fax does not even give shows a chance anymore.

Just watched the final episode, and I must say I'm pretty bitter that this is it. Maybe there is still hope. Ed was cancelled, then there was an outrage, and they filmed another season to tie it all up. I mean, if a show like 7th Heaven can have it's SERIES finale and then sign on for ANOTHER season...please people, let's let 7th Heaven go to Heaven and someone BRING BACK THE MONKEY!!!!

Come on someone! Anyone! VH1! Any Network! Buy this show and give it the run it deserves.

How can any network make a decision based upon 3 episodes airing? Heck, 3 episodes was enough for VH1 to make a play for the remaining episodes. So after all 8 will someone step in and take this show and put a new series into production? I hope so.

Love Monkey rocks.

This is great news, me and my group of friends have been very upset that Love Monkey was yanked by CBS. The confusing thing was CBS still has Love Monkey listed on there website?

Just happened be flipping channels one night and saw advertisement for show on VH1. This show deserves a second chance to succeed, and thanks to VH1 it may happen!!!!

Late to find the show I am sorry to hear that it has already been canceled once and I fear that it will be again. Great show and defiantly doesn't get enough credit. Tom has finally made a show worth watching and for his sake and all the rest of us, I hope it doesn't end.
For those who don't know, Tom Cavanagh makes occasional guest appearances on Scrubs as J.D.'s brother Dan. In fact, last week's "My New Suit" Scrubs episode did indeed feature Tom, albeit not as prominently as the character usually does.

Nice to see that we Aimee Mann fans will finally get to see her no-doubt-tiny-cameo appearance in next week's Love Monkey episode :) Of course, it would be nice if VH1 would actually commission more episodes of this promising show, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for common sense to hit Viacom Networks any time soon.

This should happen more often. I hope this becomes a trend. It's so bad that Jake In Progress didn't get picked up by another network. Jake was getting better but sadly, ABC canceled it. I was warming up to Love Monkey. I hope it does get a full season. Tom Cavanagh is a charming leading man.

Yey, it really is happening! Although, it is indeed going to be a bittersweet countdown til no more new eps. Technically UPN not existing before long are going to be the last network you want to pick it up ;) Hopefully it will get a renewed life, and renewed, but I'm not holding out much hope for it, Tom Cavanagh filming the new Jackie Frye pilot and everything. least I'll get to see it all

This show is GENIOUS! CBS put it up against the most popular friggin reality TV show of ALL time, "American Idol", and then expected it to what, compete as a brand new show?!? "Desperate Hosewives" couldn't compete with AI ratings. If they had given it another time slot it would have done a much better job. The CW network has GOT to come through as they have teased about and pick it up. As VH1 said, "The fans have spoken!!!"

CBS didn't give this one a chance, I'm glad VH-1 is. Though it will still be bittersweet, knowing there won't be any new ones.
