Marvel's Most Wanted Isn't Wanted at ABC

Oh buddy, this is bad on a number of levels. Marvel's Most Wanted, the potential Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off starring Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood, is not moving forward at ABC, according to Variety. The series, which was said to have a Mr. and Mrs. Smith vibe, would have followed Palicki's Bobbi Morse and Blood's Lance Hunter while they were on the run with a bounty on their heads and without S.H.I.E.L.D. to turn to for help. The pilot also starred Delroy Lindo as Dominic Fortune, a rogue adventurer from the Marvel comics.

This is the second time ABC has passed on a potential Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off starring Palicki and Blood. Last May, the network declined to pick up another potential series, but at least the actors were still employed after ABC passed. Earlier this season, shortly after Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returned from hiatus, Palicki and Blood's characters were written out of the spy series in order to film the pilot for Most Wanted. After a heartbreaking twist, they received a heartfelt, emotional goodbye, but because of the circumstances in which they left, it would be awfully complicated for them to return.

Bobbi and Hunter were two of the strongest, and most-liked characters of the entire series, and their absence has definitely been felt in the latter half of the show's third season. So what's ABC to do? If they're smart, they'll bring back Palicki and Blood in the already ordered Season 4 to right the ship. It's the least they can do after pulling the plug on the low-rated but critically adored Marvel's Agent Carter. But again, this is the network that tried to spin them off twice already and then passed each time.

What do you think? Should Bobbi and Hunter return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Season 4? Or should we just accept the fact ABC and Marvel screwed up big time?

Does this mean someone over at ScyFy can cast Adrienne Palicki as Roberta Draper when the character shows up in The Expanse?

They should've signed the deal for Most Wanted before sealing their fates on Agents of SHIELD. ABC has always been quick to pull the plug on projects. I would've always left it open-ended for a possible return, just in case. Now, it would suck to have them back but they're always stuck in the HQ because they've been disavowed and can't be spotted associating with SHIELD.

None of the above, try Netflix. Move Shield there too. Or create a Marvel channel!!!!

Good riddance.
I'd be happy to not see them back on AoS but since it's not that hard to write them back in, it will most likely happen.
BTW - what sort of "heartbreaking twist", "heartfelt, emotional goodbye" did I miss? I remember a rushed, wonky twist and a very awkward and extremely short goodbye. Maybe it was meant to be sarcasm and I don't get it.

If they do decide to bring them back to S.H.I.E.L.D., you can be sure it will entail some very lame plot twists. So don't do it.

As for Agent Carter, I thought the second season was rather so-so, but the worst part is that they turned her into just another one of the guys. Punch first and ask questions . . . well . . . forget the questions, just punch some more. I seem to remember that in the first season she used her head first and fists as a last resort. So I'm not too surprised to see it axed.

If I'm honest, I was never that interested in the spin-off, so I don't really care it didn't work. BUT HELL YEAH I want Bobbi back on Agents of SHIELD! I don't care how, just make it happen!

And DAMN YOU, ABC for canceling Agent Carter!

Put them back on SHIELD, I like them. It is a Marvel show so it does not need to make sence, they make up convenient stuff all the time to suit themselves.

Can't say, that I will miss them. But I'll sure miss Peggy Carter. :'(
ABC seems to be axing or declining everything lately.

Not that surprising, this neither felt crucial, nor particularly Marvel in premise. Twice is really a bad sign, and now they need to get them back on SHIELD as soon as possible because it still feels like a very small team without them.

Were it not for the over-the-top tearful goodbye, I'd say there's no problem at all in bringing them back. SHIELD is no longer an official agency, it doesn't need to "look" a certain way by not having them on the team. Plus now they can show proof of Hive's influence in what went down in Russia.

Dammit, I just bought the comic where Mockingbird makes her first appearance, in part because I knew this show was coming out, and if it took off, so would the value of the comic.

Luckily, I also got it because it's a cool issue and I like the character (and Spider-Man, who is also featured), so I'm still stoked to have it in my collection. Still, it would have been nice if Most Wanted had become the most popular show in the MCU.

Ah well. Bring em back to SHIELD. SHIELD is black ops, these days. There has to be a way.

Spin offs used to be a way to capitalise from the 'huge' success of a show (not that it works all the time eg The Originals) and its characters so it feels slightly odd to me that a show like SHIELD that has not been a success by any measure would be looked at for spin offs...

The only way to bring them back is for shield have to a unit that is not in the shadows or a new unit working under the new accords set up the civil war film.

I can only guess they are forcing the two back into SHIELD to try and fix the ratings back up.

Now I am a few eps behind, so I;m not currently up to date, but they can just splinter the show into their own units. The story lines just crisscross into each other every so often much like they did with all the mutants of the XMEN universe who made up different teams.

The only way to rectify this stupidity is to bring Bobbi and Hunter back to AoS. See that it's done!

It's kind of weird. Seeing as the characters were taken off Agents of Shield, one would think the Most Wanted series was already a lock and that ABC had already made up its mind about supporting the spin-off. This isn't exactly like the first time around. Wonder what's going on behind the scenes...
ABC had such a nice thing going with AoS and a companion show in between, but now that scheduling is in question with no Agent Carter or this new series.

Assuming that Most Wanted doesn't end up anywhere else, we get Bobbi and Hunter back on AoS, as a best case scenario. They could have their own separate arc following the plot they were supposed to follow, before being reunited with the rest of the team.
As for the tiny logistical issue of writing them back in? Eh, nothing a little retconning or creative bending of the rules couldn't fix. Especially considering how credibility stretching their "you can be spies no more" set-up was in the first place. Plus it's not like Coulson's assets don't operate in the shadows as is.

I don't understand. Maybe it has to do with production companies vs. channel, or with actors and schedules, but why the hell write off beloved characters from a show if there's even the slightest chance that their planned spin-off isn't happening? MAoS has less heart or fun without Bobbi and Hunter. Now they're gone for good? I don't understand...

I keep hearing that (for Agent Carter as well), but it won't happen. Netflix have their own very lucrative and successful deal in place with Marvel, about heroes that move in the fringes, with no immediate connection to the rest of the MU. Why mess with that and take on ex-ABC properties?

Really shame for them, but Marvel's greed is the reason.
They managed to destroy AOS as well in the process, it's first season level bad now.

Shame about the actors, but I'm sure they will land on their fits eventually.

The only Marvel I care about right now is on Netflix, hopefully we will get few years out of it,

I would have say that I'm not sad that this new show hasn't been chosen because I prefer that Bobbi and Hunter stay on Marvel's AoS but now that I know that they aren't in the show anymore...(still didn't watch curent season...).
But in the same time I have too many shows to watch so it could wait in my case :)

When the first spin-off was not picked up, I was glad for the same reason you are. Bobbi and Hunter should have stayed with MAoS. But now things are different. They're already out and in a (forced) way that can't be taken back.

Those 2 dont interest me ....in the least. This idea was mooted before and shut down because of the negative fans reaction. But oh no the press and so called critics keep trying to push the idea. Its a terrible idea. Hunter and Bobbi ar just not interesting enough characters or good enough actors for a spinoff.
MAOS's ratings has been declining since inception on its own ,perhaps get better writers and storylines in and try and bring up the ratings if its not too late already before looking to spinoff anybody.

I wasn't too keen on Most Wanted when I heard there was a pilot being developed, I just don't feel Bobbi and Hunter can carry a series so maybe this is for the best. I do feel bad for Adrianne Palicki she just can't get a break on being a lead in her own series. I'm sure they'll make it up to the actors and bring them back to Agents of Shield.

Most Unwanted. Damn it ABC. My WTF list will be a mile long this week. FTW a lot shorter.

I'm not sad that Most Wanted will not come to fruition i'm sad they're not coming back on AoS. Like Kaitlin said it would be awful complicated to get them back. But not impossible. There's always hope.

Bobbi brought an interesting moral aspect (at first anyway) and some good action scenes to AoS but Hunter always seemed forced to me, an out of place character they kept trying to fit in.

Hunter would have been better breaking bad. There's a risk of redundancy in having yet another female agent's love interest/significant other turn into a complicated adversary, but it would have been better than his comic relief that was completely lacking in humor. And I think he would have been a great counterpart to Ward.

At this point, I think the only way to salvage these two is to sacrifice one or the other. I love Bobbi but killing her and driving Hunter towards the criminally insane Joker-type of character, perhaps even turning him into an Inhuman.
