MasterChef winner gets Home Cooked!

Australia's first MasterChef, Julie Goodwin, finally gets her own show.

MasterChef Australia season one winner Julie Goodwin returns to our screens with her own cooking show.

Over a year after winning the title of Australia's first MasterChef, Julie Goodwin is back to teach us -- and celebrities -- how to cook simple family meals.

Home Cooked! With Julie Goodwin is the second show to come from a former MasterChef Australia contestant, following season one runner-up's Poh Ling Yeow's foray into the over-saturated cooking show market with Poh's Kitchen on the ABC.

"I have been so encouraged by the number of people who have told me they've rediscovered a passion for cooking. For me there's nothing more important and enjoyable than bringing family and friends together for a home-cooked meal," Julie said.

With recipes ranging from those passed down through generations to dishes designed for working parents with time constraints, each episode will follow a theme in keeping with Goodwin's focus on simple, yet delicious home-cooked meals.

"We're all so busy these days that people don't feel they have the time to cook. So I really want to show the audience how quick and easy meals can be fun to make and delicious to eat," Julie said.

Each episode will also feature a celebrity guest who will be given tips and tricks for creating their own meals at home. Some of the names already announced include Steve Waugh, Amanda Keller, Ricki-Lee Coulter and Gyton Grantley.

Grantley (Underbelly, 30 Seconds) will appear in the first episode of the show, which includes thick chicken noodle soup, slow-cooked lamb shanks, crispy pork belly with Julie's secret to crispy crackling, and chocolate fondant, which is aptly-named Winter Warmers.

Home Cooked! With Julie Goodwin premieres 5:30pm August 7 on Nine.
