The reality series for aspiring fashion designers last aired on Arena in 2009, fronted by Australian model Kristy Hinze, who is believed to be concentrating on her studies and family in 2011.
New host Megan Gale will relocate to Melbourne for the show, which is her first major television role since 2006. The Perth beauty has previously appeared on Getaway, as well as hosting Bodyworks on Channel Nine and co-hosting the Australian documentary series What A Year with Mike Munro. Most recently, she hosted the red carpet at the 2010 Logie Awards.
"I am so excited to announce that I'll be hosting and working on Project Runway Australia, as I feel it is something that sits extremely well with what I do, having worked almost two decades in the fashion industry and now as a creative director and designer of my own label. There's advice that I can give, but I think there will be much more that I can learn about fashion via this show and add it to what I already know, which will be an incredibly positive thing," said Gale.
The addition of the David Jones ambassador to the show has sparked rumours that Australia's Next Top Model judge Alex Perry, whose designs are sold through the department store, could replace PRA judge Jayson Brunsdon, who has a contract with rival retailer Myer.
The show's move to FOX8 strengthens the channel's local fashion slate, which already includes fan favourite Australia's Next Top Model.
Final auditions for the third season of Project Runway Australia are taking place this week, with the show set to premiere mid-2011 on FOX8.
