Meghan Ory Is Returning to Once Upon a Time in Season 5

A familiar face is returning to Storybrooke this season. Meghan Ory will return to Once Upon a Time and reprise her role as Ruby/Red Riding Hood for multiple episodes in Season 5, according to TV Line. Ory originally departed Once Upon a Time in 2013 to star in the CBS action drama Intelligence opposite Josh Holloway, but the series was canceled after just one season. Ory last appeared on the ABC fairy-tale drama in the Season 3 finale.

What do you think brings Ruby back into the action in Season 5? What do you HOPE happens?

Once Upon a Time returns Sunday, September 27 at 8pm on ABC.

hell yeah, please make her have a big impact in the story, "accidentally" eating Robin would be nice.

Yes! I want to see more of the old cast who got left behind. I would like to see Ariel again too, Aurora & Prince Phillip, and Archibald.

A&E recently did an interview where they alluded to emma doing something particularly horrible; I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up killing Ruby tbh. Ah well. It'll be nice to have her back while it lasts, I guess.

Ruby was cool. Curious to see how she'll be implemented without it being awkward. They're in Granny's a lot. If she's suddenly a waitress again taking orders like she was never gone it'll be weird. But she was Emma's friend when she 1st got to town so she would have a vested interest in helping get Emma back

On screen time she's only been missing maybe 3 weeks. She was there at the end of the Wicked Witch's reign. Then she was gone. But the Snow Queen incident and the Author incident didn't span a very long amount of time as far as I can tell. Both under 2 weeks.

Someone at the oncepodcast figured out a timeline.

Season 4a.
Elsa arrived April 7, 2013, by the next week the Snow Queen completed her mirror. By April 18, 2013 Belle's banished Gold and we fall into the time skip, where we can only assume Ruby continued waitress happy as a clam. So it was only 11 days for all of season 4a that's she's unaccounted for.

The podcast stopped tracking after Regina goes undercover in 4b, so I worked it out.

Season 4b.
June 7, 2013, the Fairies are freed from the hat. No more than 2 days and Mal is revived (June 9). The next day Regina immediately goes undercover. They play get hit by a train that night (June 10). The next night they play kidnap the puppet (June 11). The following day they play torture the puppet, and put the town to sleep. That night Emma releases the Author (June 12). The next day Cruella dies (June 13). The day after she's buried (June 14). Emma and Regina road trip for at most 2 days (June 16). They return; Regina uses Lily's blood to make ink; the Author rewrites reality (June 17). That night Emma becomes the new Dark One (June 18, assuming she turns into the DO at midnight for drama, though it'd be better if it was the same minute she arrived in Storybrook and the clock stopped, so maybe only June 17). So it was only 10 or 11 days at most, there's wishy washy room for it to be shorter if the road trip was less and Mal was revived sooner.

It's perfectly reasonable that they might have missed Ruby in those hectic periods.

If nothing else, they probably realized that they need some clear female friendships around and Snow might need a sounding board. Probably a little annoyed they couldn't have found some way without destroying little girls' hopes everywhere to keep Elsa around since she and Emma were friends (though, I would watch for that re appearance announcement in the second half of the season if Emma is still the Dark One, if family and romantic love can't reach her, maybe a combination of Regina, Lily and Elsa can help).

What? 10 or 11 REGULAR cast members plus guests is too many? Who would've thought... I was saying all last season how the amount of cast is a big part of what's killing the show. They need to trim it back to 5 or 6 regulars like they had in S1 so each character can have a story you want to follow and care about. It's such a jumbled mess right now that I really don't care about the vast majority of the characters, and the biggest ones, Snow, David and Henry have been tossed to the back burner for the most part. Of course, it could be that I hate the soap opera that this show has become where the main story feels like the B story in favor of what should be B story relationships, and bad ones at that. /rant

Meghan Ory also recently play a role in the Dead Rising: Watchtower movie where she kicked some zombie ass. If you like the actress or played the games. (i did) it's worth a watch. It's a stupid zombie movie but somewhat entertaining. You can see the movie on the Crackle network (Sony) with your ps3 / xbox / sony bluray / sony tv whatever for free.

I'm a glad we got Ruby back. I liked her character and she's easy on the eyes.

I liked her character and thought it was weird how (most of) the audience knew why she was gone but she was just never mentioned again, even when they could've brought her around for some of the background stuff lol

Because just what they need, more regulars and semi-regulars.

Now Will can get even less attention!

(Assuming Michael Socha is still on the show.)

Probably for the best. He was the biggest waste of a series regular. The guy is brilliant and will find a better show to be on to be sure

so many wastes of series regulars and guests. It looks like Meghan's up for being on the wasted character bandwagon again. Think she'll have more lines than season 3?
