The Men are on the move.
ABC is switching the premiere date for its new series, Men in Trees. The sitcom, from Sex and the City writer Jenny Bicks, will premiere on Tuesday, September 12, at 10 p.m., following the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars. The show was previously scheduled to premiere on Friday, September 15.
After the Tuesday premiere, Men will move to its regular time slot, Fridays at 9 p.m. ABC will rerun the Men pilot at 8 p.m. on September 15 before airing the new episode.
Men in Trees stars Anne Heche as Marin Frist, a self-help writer who gives relationship advice to women. While en route to a speaking engagement in the remote town of Elmo, Alaska, Marin discovers her fiance has been cheating on her. She decides to stay in Elmo and put the pieces of her life back together.
Bicks created the show and is an executive producer along with James Mangold and Kathy Conrad. The series also stars John Amos and Suleka Matthew.
ABC had originally planned to make Friday night "ladies nights," and Men had been paired with the Salma Hayek-produced Ugly Betty, a remake of a popular Colombian telenovela. When Betty generated some positive buzz, ABC moved its airtime to Thursdays.
