Michelle Rodriguez set free

The long arm of the law caught up with Michelle Rodriguez...and let her go.

The Lost actress, who was supposed to serve a 60-day jail sentence for violating her probation by driving drunk, served only four hours and 27 minutes before getting out of the clink.

Los Angeles authorities said jail overcrowding was the reason Rodriguez was let out early.

"Our prosecutors are not happy about it, but that is the sad reality of our overcrowded jails," said Los Angeles Attorney General spokeswoman Contessa Mankiewicz.

Rodriguez was not completely exonerated, however. The actress must complete her 30 days of community service, and her probation, which was scheduled to conclude in 2007, was pushed back to 2009.

Rodriguez was on probation for a drunk driving-related charge from 2004. In December of 2005, she was arrested in Hawaii for driving drunk.

On Thursday, May 25, as Rodriguez was entering LA county jail to begin her sentence, she told reporters she was moving to France when she got out.

"People don't bother you there. I do what I got to do and then I leave the country and never come back," she said.

Drunk driving is drunk driving she deserves a life in jail. All drunk drivers do! As if there should be such liancy, especially to a celeb. To heck with that. That's what's wrong with society today. BS!

Like they don't have DUII laws or Paparazzi in France...

  • Mad_Buck

See ya in France, Michelle. Too bad you can't take Katie Holmes with you.

This sets a bad precedent. It says if you drink, you drive, you lose... Unless you're a semi-famous actress. Drinking and driving is such a horrible thing to begin with, it should be made an example ESPECIALLY when someone does it in such of the public eye.
For some reason, I can only relate this to Elvis serving in the army. Elvis was an only child (They won't make your only child go to war) and could have also probably used his celebrity status to get out of going to war... But he went and served anyway. Michelle Rodriguez... Elvis you are not. Where's the class? Where's the justice? Whatever happened to doing what was right?
I'm going to be harsh and say here's hoping she's never coming back. Hell, here's hoping I never have to see her in film and TV again...

  • wise_owl14

Go top France and never come back, spoiled brat!

  • Carolee99

I guess it pays to have a mega hit show. As if she is really going to learn her lesson.

  • Pinkmyst

My opinion of her as a person has dropped a lot!
If it was another average person they would not have got off so easily. It sends a bad message!

  • Parsec54

Oh PUHLEASE! like she's sooooooooo inconvenienced! if that were any NORMAL (read "non-celebrity") person, our butts wouldn't get any pathetic sixty day sentence. Hell no, we'd get thrown in jail for three to five years. Lovely double standards this country has. So if the jails are crowded, let's not move the inmates somewhere less crowded to do their sentences. No, let's just let them out completely. That'll really teach them a lesson.
