Misfits Scores Second Season

Its first season may not finish until tonight, but already E4's superhero drama has been snapped up for a second.

Misfits is to return with six new episodes joining E4's current home-grown hits including Skins, Shameless, and The Inbetweeners on our TV screens next year.

According to Channel 4 the first season, which concludes tonight at 9pm, has so far drawn an average of 1 million people per episode. That includes those tuning in via the channel's online catch-up service 4OD and E4 +1.

The second season, about a group of young offenders with superpowers, will continue to follow the teens as they come to terms with their abilities (or lack thereof in Nathan's case).

Speaking about its re-commission, Misfits' creator Howard Overman admitted: "I had always storyboarded for future series and am thrilled E4 wants us to continue providing some more dark, twisted, storm charged, Misfits style superhero capers. But without the capes obviously."

This is a surprisingly excellent series. Cleverly highlighting real social issues through caricature with a brooding, dark and twisted take on the whole super-powers angle. This could only have come from the UK and is a welcome hit amongst mostly dire UK productions. Looking forward to the continuation!

The chav version of heroes gets another series, just unbelieveable really. There must be stories about decent people to tell rather than criminals.
