In an unfortunate loss for the acting world, psychiatrist Dr. Charles Kroger will no longer be seeing Adrian Monk.
Actor Stanley Kamel, who portrayed Kroger on the USA Network's comedy Monk, has passed away at the age of 65. Kamel was found dead of a heart attack in his Los Angeles home yesterday.
In addition to his current gig as the psychiatrist to the germaphobic Monk, Kamel starred as Cody McCall in General Hospital, had recurring roles in Beverly Hills, 90210, L.A. Law, and Melrose Place, and guest starred in dozens of popular shows.
The USA Network released the following statement to Access Hollywood over the loss: "USA is deeply saddened by the news of Stanley Kamel's passing. Stanley was an amazingly talented and extremely kind man, and an important member of the USA family. He will be sorely missed."
Monk recently completed its sixth season and has been renewed for a seventh. For more on the show, check out TV.com's previous coverage.

Right now, they are 2 episodes into season 7. They've been good, but a bit corny! In episode 701, they reflected off shaloub's real feelings.
"I mean, a heart attack? I saw him the day before he died and he looked perfectly healthy."
Sad time, but at least he died knowing he would be missed. D: RIP. (They still should've had a kroger murder...)
I just heard and wanted to pay my respects to a great actor
He will be missed, a loss to all and to Monk. My condolences to his family.
He was a great actor. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
Such a great Loss :( My condolences to both direct and Show families.
What a shock! 65 is not that old. I'm glad he got the recognition he deserved with this role.
I remember him most from his role on Beverly Hills 90210, he supposedly killed Dylan's dad...
R.I.P. You will be missed.
This is truly a shock! :( He was absolutely wonderful in Monk. RIP
Wow! This totally caught me off guard! He will be missed.
I just read about the sudden death of Stanley Kamel (Dr. Kroger on Monk;) my first reaction was Oh No...He was a fine character actor and I'm sure just as wonderful a person in real life as he appears to be on the tube...He was in the most recent episode of the Hallmark mystery series Jane Doe with Lea Thompson...Rest in Peace, Mr, Kamel...
great actor he will be missed
Sad news. R.I.P. Stanley Kamel.
This is so sad and I was totally shocked to hear of his death. I wonder how they will handle his abscence on the show and poor Adrian...if they do say that Dr. Kroger is dead. Great actor who will really be missed. Thank you Mr. Kamel for the wonderul job on Monk.
unfortunate
the most awful news. he was great on Monk. if they get another person to play dr. kroger i will stop watching monk. it was a hard enough transition to natalie. i dont think i could deal with this. R.I.P
Wow, thats crazy, i didnt even realize he was that old.
Furthermore though, the headline makes it sound alot more disturbing, in that he was "found" dead, like he just showed up somewhere dead.
still a sad and abrupt thing to happen, i wonder ineed what they'll do about it, i mean they were able to abruptly phase Sharona out, so maybe it wont be so difficult for them......but i did really like his character in the show, it was a great foil for monks character and i wish he had more scenes/episodes.
I hope they replace him with someone else, i mean they did it with Dale the Whale.
i don't think they will kill off the character, i think they will have someone else play the doctor.
BrainiacMM - It will be interesting to see how they write his absense into the show.R.I.Pco-sign
That was a shock, Stanley Kamel was a good character actor. I still think some of his best work was on Murder One. He was such a sleaze on that show. But the few times I was able to catch him on Monk, I thought he was excellent. Im sure he will be missed on there.
if they have him die in the show Mr. Monk and Harold Krenshaw will have trouble dealing with him gone
It will be interesting to see how they write his absense into the show.
R.I.P
It is so sad when somebody who has touched so many lives passes away. But what is even sadder is if we do not take some defining aspect of who they were and make it our mission to be just a little better even if only for a day. Apparently Mr Stanley Kamel was a very kind man. It will be my hommage to him to make today a day whereby I make a point to be extra kind. Thank you for a life well lived. You will be sorely missed.
May He Rest in Peace
A great character actor who goes back to around 1970. He will surely be missed.
we will miss you Dr. Kroger and so will MR MONK :(
Best wishes go out to his family. He was amazing as Dr. Kroger. I will miss his character greatly.
That's so terrible =(
He will be missed, he was an amazing actor and made the show that much more enjoyable. My condolences go out to all those connected to him.
That's so sad.
This is gonna kill Adrian, See what a basket case he was after Sharonna left, What about Dr. Kroger???
Meanwhile
Not to speak i'll of the dead, but they could write "Dr. Krogers" death into the show. Rest in Peace Stan.
Oh my god, thats awful! I hope they can keep Monk going, still, though...
