MTV Renews Awkward. for a Big Season 3

B-hymens, beware! MTV has done the right thing and renewed its new hit Awkward. for a third season, says The Hollywood Reporter. And to keep up the momentum of its recent wave of successful original programming, MTV has increased the show's episode order from 12 to 20.

If you haven't seen Awkward., click on over to MTV's website and start watching it NOW (all of the episodes are online for free). It's a fearless, touching, smart comedy about high school and one girl's quest to manage the ups and downs of varying degrees of popularity. And the kids swear a lot.

Normally, I'm of the mind that bloating a cable show from 12 episodes to 20 episodes is a bad thing. I mean, it's great for everyone working on the show (167 percent work increase!), but 20 episodes means it'll be more challenging to maintain the level of quality the show has been putting out there. However, 20 episodes will allow creator Lauren Iungerich to delve deeper into the awesome world of Palos Hills High School that's been taking shape in Season 2 instead of limiting the action to protagonist Jenna Hamilton. Can we get some Sadie-centric episodes, please? I'd LOVE to see her sit down for dinner with her parents.

Who would you like to see more of in Awkward.'s third season?

Thats were the death valley funding went then. Awkward isn't the word.

Glad to see it renewed, but I'm not liking the 20 episode order for the season. Yes, it will allow secondary characters to be developed, but the show has difficultly enough with the main ones.

I'd say Tamara is a fairly central character, yet her Ricky Schwartz storyline has been frustratingly dragged out since the first episode... And filler episodes aren't fun, they're filler.

Oh course I would like to see a season 3 of awkward. And I'm of the frame of mind that more is almost always better so them asking for a longer season is awesome! I hate that all the good shows out there have around ten episodes seasons, it means that we barely get any of their awesome in one year. I'm glad to see one of these shows is improving in that regard.

I like it but I can see her jumping between the two guys a lot. Tamara and Sadie get all the best lines though.

Wonderful. I have faith in the writers. They can doooooo it!

Much like Teen Wolf, I hope that the writers of Awkward can split any general arcs they want into a first half arc and a second half arc, so that they avoid filler episodes, especially considering they've both been so strong in that regard.

Awkward-er-er! I love this show and I'm so happy MTV has gotten their wits together to renew one of the best shows on all of tv! (honestly, I'm surprised they renewed Teen Wolf. I mean, who really watches that show? Maybe I just don't get the whole vampire/wolf thing. Oh well, Awkward. just feels so much more real to me. )

Sadie!!! I second having more Sadie-centric episodes. I actually hope they have some this season (please oh please let us go to Sadie's house again!!!). Sadie's looking actually kinda hot this season, am I right? This girl is so fun to watch and I think she's actually become such a more layered character with her new look. Hot Sadie > Chubby Sadie

1. No vampires in Teen Wolf.

2. TW actually comes across as very grounded in reality. The characters do stupid things (because they're teenagers and teenagers do, well, stupid things), and the characters are well-written, complexly fleshed out, and ultimately very real.

wow 20 episodes that's a lot... i am excited to see more of awkward. but i am also worried, reaaally hope that the quality won't drop... and sadie is an awesome evil character ( actually liked her more when she was more chubby but oh well can't say i ' m surprised)

The quality will definitely not drop! We're just going to get more of Matty and Jake.(Please more shirts off too) What's not to like. And, I think Sadie's sassiness with her new look is so much better. I will admit, she was funny when she was chubby, but I think now she's funny and hot (such a good combo). It's all in her mannerisms and attitude you know? I wonder what it'd be like if the show revolved around her, like if she narrated...

No! My bro works on that show. Plus, b/c of that show, teen pregnancy is down. Cancel Jersey Shore and similar garbage.

Awesome! The only witty show on MTV.

Actually, Teen Wolf is quite witty and funny, too. Not to mention exceptionally well-plotted with strong themes.

It seems that MTV is actually becoming one of the stronger channels when it comes to scripted (and admittedly-scripted, not "reality shows that clearly have a script" scripted) programs. WEIRD.

I actually do watch Teen Wolf, but I feel the show focuses more on visual effects and less on the actual script. I think it will only get better with time. PLEASE MTV, MORE SCRIPTED SHOWS. DUMP THE REALITY SHOWS.

I tried watching this show, gave up after two episodes. Might try again someday, but it really wasn't something I could relate to.

Last week, having nothing else to do, i decided to trust on tv.com's reviews (you haven't disappointed me yet) and watch this series. I'm really glad i did! Yay for renewal! And, as you said, 20 episodes give room to some fun filler episodes.

And i just watched this video on Sadie earlier today haha I love her "you're welcome" face

Someone had to say it!

This is excellent news. I'm not worried about having 20 episodes at all, because there could be some great character developing fillers in there. This show knows how to handle itself very well. Love it!

This and Teen Wolf's huge 24-episode order are kind of turning MTV into a scripted-show powerhouse in terms of quality across the board. Who ever thought THAT would be possible?
